Prior to today Deepti had failed 6 driving test with previous instructors, all in Crawley. At the beginning of the year Deepti decide to contact me to try a new instructor, we originally had a test booked for March in Crawley but that was cancelled by the DVSA and then when the test was rebooked the Crawley test centre was unavailable, so a test in Redhill was on the cards.
During the lessons with Deepti we focused on her areas of weakness and always tried to put a positive spin on things as a previous 6 fails and negative instructors had left Deepti low on confidence and self-esteem.
Today Deepti took her driving test in Redhill, and to add to everything it was also raining. How did Deepti do? Well the thumbnail probably gives you a clue she passed her driving test, but I recored the driving test using my dash camera and have done a running commentary about Deepti's drive including any faults she committed.

Review from Deepti: After failing multiple times last year, I thought of reaching out to Laurence. I have been watching his KZfaq videos since last year and have always found them extremely helpful. So, in December 2019, I requested him for his availability. Luckily, he was available from February 2020 and I started taking lessons from him. And I can say that, it was the best move in this long journey. Laurence focused on my weak areas and always tried to bring positivity to the whole experience as previous failures had left me on a very low confidence and self-esteem. Although, I knew how to drive, he helped me become a better and safer driver. He is very friendly, patient and never gets frustrated on asking the same questions many times or doing repetitive mistakes. I very much admire his way of focusing on positives over the negatives. It has helped me tremendously in changing my mindset so that I don’t dwell upon the mistakes, but rather work on improving them, using unique and creative ideas. He gave me small challenges in every lesson to get better in what I was struggling. The lessons were never mundane and always adjusted according to the needs to improve my driving. I would highly recommend Laurence to anyone who is planning to learn or improve their driving skills. For sure, you will not be disappointed!

The main think is to think positive, so for example with Deepti at first she was always thinking about what could go wrong (partly due to previous instructors being very negative). During lessons we always had a balance between good things and things to improve on, and getting Deepti to mention the good things, as if you can say the good things yourself it can often work much better for self-esteem compared to being told but someone else what was good. I did have to say "shhh" to Deepti a few times when she started to think negatively like "what if I fail again, when will I get a new test, I will also need to redo my theory", really not the sort of thing that is worth thinking about. Just a huge Thank You for all your content. I passed my driving test today with no faults. I did it with no instructor using my sisters car with her beside me and only having two weeks practice with you and a couple of other instructors videos for guidance. I would definitely recommend you as an instructor and would never recommend doing it the way I did but it shows with the right dedication and work ethic with the best demonstrations and practical advice we can achieve anything. If I can get this result without even sitting in the same car as you then you will get anyone to pass their tests with flying colours.

Deepti said she was fairly calm, which was a massive difference to previous tests. She said it was because: - We focused on being positive on all the driving lessons, so this mindset continued into the test. - We did a fews things on test day to get into the correct mindset such as writing down 3 REALLY positive things about her driving and things to focus on. Also parked up near a duck pond and went to see the ducks before the test to just take her mind off driving. - The examiner was a lady and was very nice, so helped Deepti to relax.

Just passed my test at redhill with 1 minor. Test route was the same up to the point where she did the angled start. These videos has been a great help👍

11.45 Good positioning. Note that as Deepdi comes to a stop in traffic pending a right turn at the end of the road she moves in left to keep the way clear for any oncoming vehicles that might turn into the side road in which she has stopped. There is a car parked on the right hand side of the road and she seems to have taken this into consideration when drawing up to a stop. In general it is mentioned that she is travelling "a bit slow" from time to time, the rainy weather will be helping her because the examiner may well believe she is driving a little bit slower than she normally does due to the rain

Congratulations! I passed my test 2nd time in Coventry & found the 2nd test better than the 1st as I knew what to expect from it. Plus I found the examiner was very chatty during my 2nd test & my instructor told me I was a better driver when I talk lol

This guy seems like such a good instructor and a genuinely nice patient compassionate person. Not many instructors take into account people's nerves as well. Especially when he said they went to a duck pond before the test

This comment is completely irrelevant to this video but I want to thank @DrivingCrawley for all the brilliant videos helping me to pass my driving test with only 3 minors which I took today. At first I was worried about driving in unknown territory, as my local test centre was fully booked, but after watching your videos they really helped me nail the test. Not only this but its amazing how watching a video of an unknown place makes it a known place! Everywhere I went on the test I drove confidently and the harder areas which some your videos are on really helped. Thank You.

Looks easier than the Crawley vids of yours with all the massive rounabouts and stuff. Interesting that she failed at Crawley many times but passed 1st time here. Would you say it's easier at redhill? I did read an article about Crawley having a fairly lhigh failure rate. I want to put all the odds of a pass in my favour if I start trying to learn to drive again! thx

Redhill does have a higher pass rate, so is technically 'easier' to pass, between April 2019 to March 2020 the pass rate at Redhill was 49.2%, At Crawley it was 41.3%. Chichester is one of the easier test centre in the area with a pass rate of was 54.7%. The main factor in Crawley is just a large variety of things you need to be able to deal with (pretty much anything you can think of), in someone like Redhill it is just one of two keys things, such as hills and narrow roads. Of course if you live in Crawley you really should be able to pass your test in Crawley, if you can't then you might well be a it of a menace on the roads after passing.

20:07 - Pull up on the right and reverse back 2 car lengths. This is her reversing manoeuvre.

You will be asked to do one manoeuvre involving reversing, it does not have to be a reverse park. Options are: - Reverse parking on the road (parallel park) - Reverse parking in a car park (bay park) - Drive forwards into a bay, then reverse out. - Pull up on the right and reverse back 2 car lengths. It is all completely random and what you get asked to do depends on location/route, time of day and traffic levels. For example the route might not have suitable locations to do parallel parking, or might not have a car park on route to do forward bay parking, so they might ask you to do a reverse bay park at the test centre (assuming that test centre has suitable bays)

Just failed my test today made a silly mistake which resulted into a serious fault and I failed with 5 minor faults. Feel gutted as I can’t even rebook as DVLA is fully book in my area 😢 theory test expires on the 19th on November

5:20 we can stop on solid white lines 12:35 sticking to 30 to be safe and wait to see a 40 sign

Yes! A solid white line at the edge is just an 'edge line', no laws regarding parking attached, it just marks the edge of the road. Of course you need to still make sure it is a safe and convenient place, so you might get a solid white line at the edge of many national speed limit rural roads, but it would not be safe to stop on these sort of roads due to high speeds of other vehicles.

I have my second test tomorrow 21st of June in this area. I have not been able to book any practice lessons as my instructor was fully booked and I couldn’t find any. But I have been constantly watching these sort of videos and they have helped. I’m hoping I will remember all this and pass I will hate to fail again. My first test I had one serious fault at the end when returning to the centre the lady said I was near to the parked cars. I have taken note of this and will be more careful tomorrow fingers crossed

@@sibamuns tbh I was too anxious and I didn’t pay too much attention on the road sign when approaching the junction I almost drove straight towards an oncoming traffic and I had 5 minors

I don't know any other instructor in the area who do videos? I am in Crawley, but just had an odd test in Redhill so decided to make a video on it.
