REAL UK Driving Test - Pass or Fail?
DON'T CLICK THIS ;-) - tinyurl.com/ya3wblg4
PASS your driving test with zero faults? tinyurl.com/y9fcnyen
Watch Rob's real UK driving test, another car cuts him up and causes a emergency brake, but who brakes the examiner or Rob?
This situation can be a nightmare for some, having to react to someone else, on your driving test! Nervous enough already, let along having another driving doing something silly!
If Rob brakes he will pass his driving test, if the examiner brakes then he will fail his test :-(

Extremely lucky to have an examiner treat him so kindly for the minors pointed out in the video, just shows how laid back some of them are.

It all brings back memories! I passed November 2017 just before the changes to the test! Something I’d never like to do again! My examiner was radially nice too, nice chap, was calm the whole time which relaxed me! And I was so happy when he told me I’d passed, yes it was my 4th attempt but I determined to keep going! 😊😊

Did you do a right turn at hazel wick? to Three Bridges and stayed tight to the right after passing under the bridge? Which if you do people will think you are carrying on round and start to overtake on the left, which then means it is very awkward, if not impossible, to exit the roundabout safely. I guess this is what the problem was? Feel free to share my videos / channel with your friends so they can be more aware of the things to look out for when driving around Crawley. P.S. Some examiners are understanding and will not mark a fault if it was an awkward situations, especially if they caused it, like the examiner guiding them into a busy and tight car park.

Good test! I thought he did really well with being cut off and with the car in his way in the car park, it would have been easy to get flustered on both of those occasions but he seemed to stay calm and keep it together! I did notice there were a few times he was significantly under the speed limit with a clear road ahead of him, bit surprised he didn't get a fault for progress, especially after a couple of the roundabouts where he took a long time to build up speed.
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
Even though some of the roads are national speed limit they are not too open or long so without local knowledge and confidence with the area it is difficult to get to 60 or 70mph, also the examiner knows they are nervous and a new driver so getting all the way to the speed limit on the fast roads is not essential, just driving at a reasonable speed.

Driving Crawley thanks bud I meant to say I passed. It’s a massive learning stage from an Audi s line that put the handbrake on automatically or should u wish to do press a button. Hill start, it wouldn’t roll back for 10 seconds etc. To a 2000 ford Ka that does nothing 😂😂. The learning begins all over again and I’m 1000 miles + plus in.
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
@@scottii3692 I suspect the Ka is also petrol and Audi with diesel, so you are probably finding the Ka quite sensitive and prone to stalling. If that is an issue, the main thing to remember is to always do gas, then biting point. practicing hill starts on a quiet road can help, just keep repeating it until you can do it consistently.
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
@@scottii3692 It also is a debate as to if it is a good idea for an instructor to have such a high tech car, as you don't get taught many skills that will be essential in the first car people will buy when they pass their tests. Of course the other side of the argument is it is nice to learn in and makes life easier when you are nervous or struggling with the basics.
@scottii3692

Driving Crawley your correct the Audi was a diesel were’s my Ka is petrol. And it appears you could get away with things more. The Audi just did not seem to stall even if you didn’t accelerate it just chugged along in 2nd at like 8 miles an hour. My KA will do this is just stutters and will probably stall It just doesn’t seem as forgiving. It’s a difficult one, as some learners will get new cars, but the majority will get older cars without parking cameras and sensors that I become reliant on as well as my observations. Personally I should have choose an instructor who had a car, more closer to what I would have used. But I guess you learn though time.

I always think if you stop on red on a roundabout, particularly first in queue, you will get several vehicles built up behind you in both your lane and in the one to the left. I like to get into the left lane as soon as it is available, beyond the final exit I am not using, to exit in left lane with faster cars coming round me in right hand lane. If you exit on right hand lane any faster, possibly impatient drivers can be stacking up behind you and others undertaking making it look bad. Having "L" plates will encourage impatient drivers to try and push past on big "A" roads particularly two lane dual carriageways.

So the examiner let him use his mobile phone while on the test? Unless the engine was shut down, rob was still in control of the car, and would be guilty of the offence of using a mobile phone whilst driving. Very poor from the examiner.
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
Technically you are correct, the engine may however have been turned off, not 100% sure. I would not say it was poor from the examiner though, staying quiet or getting angry at Rob would have been worst, leaving your phone on was a mistake that could happen to anyone. The main thing is Rob realised the problem and pulled over to resolve the problem.

He's not getting marked for the curb or roll backs that you would normally or could get a serious for because he showed the examiner that he can spot a hazard and deal with it quickly and safely under pressure, he even responded to it faster than the examiner which is a super plus in the examiners book and he basically passed him at that point, i think he would of just turned a blind eye to anything that wasn't a dangerous.
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
Nothing on the test would have got a serious fault, just possibly could have got some minors for things. But like you say perhaps because he reacted to the hazard at the beginning the examiner pretty much put his pen away and did not bother to mark anything much any more.
@Sage.....
@Sage..... 5 жыл бұрын
Mounting a curb is a major but brushing it is a minor, he mounteded it, the silver car was not at fault therefore it was definitely a serious and i noticed he rolled back twice but was only given 1 driving fault for the entire lesson lol. In a way it's kind of annoying because i failed my test for way less.
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
Ultimate Tensile where did you hear mounting the kerb is a fail? How many test have you taken? What training have you had? As I have sat in on nearly 100 tests and can assure you mounting the kerb is not always a fail, I have had people mount kerbs and pass. It depends on the situation and the examiners judgement. On this test the candidate was driving at less than 5mph and in a quiet car park, which was relatively tight and small, as such mounting the kerb was not a major issue. Mounting the kerb due to a swerve of the steering wheel is dangerous and typically a fail, or mounting at higher speeds or perhaps on a manoeuvre could also be a fail. But all depends on the situation.
@Sage.....
@Sage..... 5 жыл бұрын
Driving Crawley I was told by my instructor it's an instant fail unless you just touch it slightly, I've had about 13 hours and sat one test which I failed due to pulling out at a junction in plenty of time but as the car approaching was doing about 15mph overs the speed limit he had to slow down slightly and It was marked as a serious other than that I got 3 minors for controls because of high revs moving off but I was in a petrol car that was prone to stall if the revs were not high enough and it was really hard to get the bite just right.
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
@@Sage..... how many tests has your instructors sat in on? Even many instructors have beliefs about what is a fail and what isn't. Truth is the examiners do not have a list of 'this is a fail'. It is down to their judgement.

I've been cut up like that loads of times at that roundabout. Also heading for the services instead of the motorway loads of people zoom up your inside assuming you're going to be taking the offside lane on the motorway slip-road. I didn't know it was on a test route though, I've not seen many learner cars there. Your learner did well.

Yes the roundabout is on almost every test, which would be about 30 a week! Plus all the instructors practicing there. This is because the test centre is opposite bridges breakers yard, so very close to this roundabout.

1.54 Candidate selects the right hand of a pair of lanes allocated to traffic travelling onto A23 Crawley. When he moves off he correctly heads for middle lane in distance as appropriate. A Black car comes up on our left and pushes across. As soon as I suspect another vehicle is coming close to the confines of its lane or veering outside its lane I like to ease off the gas and not be along side it. Often the offender will revert back into its lane due to lax lane discipline but if it is going to take a completely inappropriate direction, your easing back and not being alongside means it just crosses your path safely ahead of you because you have factored the problem in and have employed a solution. Driving around multi-lane roundabouts standard procedure is checking other vehicles as well as yours are following lanes properly. The temptation for new or inexperienced drivers is being pushed off line into a sudden lane change instead or maintaining correct direction by varying speed and progress.

@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 4 жыл бұрын
Yes automatic would be easier as less things to do and less anxieties. Of course only issue is you are then restricted to only being able to drive automatics when you pass, but saying that now days automatics are VERY common, I believe in 2018 40% of all new cars made were automatic, I expect the figure will continue to rise until automatic is dominant.

I thought using a mobile whilst the engine running was an offence people have been nicked for being parked up with the engine running using a phone
@UKDrivingTest
@UKDrivingTest 5 жыл бұрын
Yes that is true, I was not sat in on the test so engine may have been switched off when after they stopped. Also the people getting fined while stopped is likely to be when stopped at a red traffic light, which is a distraction, how many times have you had it when the light goes green and the car in front is not paying attention as sending a quick text. Not sure if a policeman would fine you if you were safely parked with engine switched on and used phone. Technically they could fine you, but not sure if they would, but not worth the risk, only takes seconds to turn engine off.
