Buy BlueDevil Rear Main Sealer @ amzn.to/3vaQFI6
So in this video I try out Blue Devil rear main sealer. I have a 1993 Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 with a common rear main engine oil seal leak. Removing the transmission and replacing the rear seal it is very expensive to have the work done by a mechanic.
I've tried different stop leak products in the past such as ATP's AT-205 Re-seal but I am open to try other products like this one from Blue Devil.
Watch to see if it helped or not. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

We lost about 1.5 qt of oil thru rear main seal leak on our 2010 Toyota Camry; added Blue Devil Rear Main Sealer and it stopped the leak. That was 4 years ago and the seal is still holding; NO LEAK. Excellent product - - tried and tested.

This is amazing, I'm getting it today. I literally just spent three days changing oil pump gasket, front crank seal, cam seals, oil filter adapter gasket and oil pan gasket on my 2002 Xterra 4x4. Pain in the but because I had to drop everything to get to everything lol. Got it all together and have a very slow rear main that I didn't catch. I don't feel like pulling the transfer case and trans to do it so I'm stoked to know this helps people with heavy leaks!

I couldn't find a more recent Blue Devil rear main seal repair video so I'll comment here. I have an 06 Silverado 4.3 with >170,000 miles on it. Several months ago the rear main began leaking. I finally made an appointment with a former GM tech to replace the seal for an estimated $800. That was supposed to happen to day, 11/29/2022. I am usually skeptical of miracle auto chemicals but what the heck. I've seen video after video on several products. But on Sunday afternoon I decided to take Advance up on their email giving me 25% off. I ordered this stuff and went to Advance to retrieve it. I poured it in right there in the parking lot. Round trip was about 15 miles. I decided to park on the clean side of my driveway much to the dismay of my wife. OK, I don't get it. It's supposed to take longer than that to work, right. Folks, Monday morning there was maybe a quarter size drop on the concrete and it was leaking way worse than that before. I drove quite a few miles yesterday. This morning the new spot is dime size. Can this stuff really be this good? I am beyond satisfied and just hoping that it lasts..

It rejuvites the seal so it can work depending on how bad the seal is. So you just might get lucky, it absolutely slowed down my leak, although it did have a little drip after a few days of sitting.

Wow, I didn't know blue devil made one for the rear main seal. I'm sitting here trying to figure out the best way to change the seal, but now I think I'm gonna go out and get a bottle of this stuff, and see how it does in my car. Thank you so much for making this video.

Good luck! I have found that after like 3-4 days I may get a drip still. But it's so minor I don't think it's worth paying a mechanic to repair. If you plan on keeping the car forever and driving it daily then it may be worth replacing the seal to you.

@@mercedesbenzs600bash no it didn't, unfortunately. From what I can tell, it didn't help at all. Someone on KZfaq sent me a video on this stuff called AT-205. You can buy it on Amazon, I just put a bottle in the car. It's similar to the blue devil, but this stuff is apparently better. The only thing is, you need to add a bottle of the AT-205 every time you change the oil. I think it's around $17 per bottle, but definitely worth a shot.

My truck drips maybe five drops a week after it sits. So I might try this since it's just starting. I rather not pay someone a thousand dollars when the engine probably doesn't have 50k life left. It's at 265 now and has been very reliable as far a the engine goes. Electronics is another story.

If it's coming from the back of the engine up high it could possibly be the oil pressure sender. 5.3 is bad for that. You need a specialty socket and some extensions with a swivel iirc to change it but it's not that hard. I had a LM7 Tahoe that leaked out the sender and I put up with it for years because it looked hard to change as you can't see it. Then I had a Sierra and it was reading no oil pressure so I had to change that one. After changing it I felt like an idiot not changing the other one because it was easy. You just have to work by feel cause it's buried

Quit being cheap. These are leaks I have resolved in my 2001 car over the last year: valve covers, water pump, oil pan gasket, oil pressure sending unit, timing cover gaskets, power steering rack (rack and pinion), struts, rear drum brake cylinders (eight total leaks). Talk to mechanics and most will tell you they don't recommend sealing agents (and it's not just because they want to do repairs!).
@NoWr2Run
@NoWr2Run Жыл бұрын
@@Russell-rc6qq I get what your saying but to repair a REAR MAIN OIL LEAK on most cars is pretty BIG MONEY unless you do it yourself. I took a chance & spent $23.95 & my rear main oil leak has stopped for now. I do have a REAR MAIL SEAL waiting on stand by in case it starts leaking again, I ALSO " DO NOT LIKE ADDING THIS TO MY ENGINE ". Hopefully Blue Devil WILL NOT PLUG UP ANYTHING IT'S NOT SUPPOSE TO ? My oil Pressure is the same & NO LEAKS, SO I'M DAMN HAPPY. I did change, Valve pan gasket, Oil Filter O-Ring, Timing Chain Cover, Automatic Trans. lines that leaked, Water Pump, Heater Core but the REAR MAIN was going to be a PAIN IN MY ASS, so I added this stuff & it's working GREAT. So I'm not lazy, just took a chance on Blue Devil instead of HOURS & HOURS OF FIXING REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK " THE RIGHT WAY ". Maybe in the future I'll have to, WE WILL SEE, HOPEFULLY NOT, LOL. AS IT'S A 4 WHEEL DRIVE, MAKES IT HARDER TO FIX.

@@InternetDude My experience has been mechanics will often do extra things without charging additional labor while they are in there when you have a large job done. Example: I had the valve covers and intake gaskets redone in my car last August. This was 10 hours labor. While the mechanic had everything apart he redid the EGR valve gasket, PCV valve, and thermostat just for the cost of the parts. So a $250 standalone job to do the thermostat just cost me $10 for the part. Consider this kind of thing when you weigh the pros and cons of having work done. Basically, don't just scoff at the heavy price tag necessarily thinking it's just for one thing and it's too much or not worth it.
