A mechanically assisted system is a great idea. I imagine you could create all sorts of swing-out counterweights that could assist in balancing it and advanced sensors to ensure they don't deploy and hit walls and such.

The M56 smartguns from the movie were in fact jist MG42's with shit stuck to them. The M41 pulse rifle was a Thompson M1, SPAS 12 amd remington shotgun stuck together, the green polymer furniture was just to cover the welds. The sound it makes is a Thompson being fired, played backwards.

It's heavy, it's loud, it's impractical, and I love it.

Just imagine if it was belt-fed by a backpack…a man can dream…

The ROF on the MG 42 will never cease to amaze me.

I want to see the upper position. The smart gun harnesses had the ability to reposition the gun to head level so that they could be used to shoot over cover/when prone. That was what the eyepiece was for, it was connected to a camera on the gun for blindfire around corners and over cover. You got some work to do yet, but this is a great start!

Looks great.. If used in a practical world - that weapons system will require a "Juggernaut" suite...

Sound was way better than the one in the movie. I remember thinking the sound was SO sissy for that huge a gun, but your thing there rocks!

Also a heads up display targeting system that is sighted into point of impact with range estimation capabilities. Probably a helmet mounted visor. That along with the modified hollywood movie set steady cam camera mount they have attached this mg3 to (or any other weapons system) would make this system truly practical with the motorcycle grip trigger set up.

Imagine if instead of an MG42, it was a lighter version of the Vickers Machine Gun that is belt fed to a backpack. Then we can fire a constant stream of lead without having a barrel melting.

His stance reminds me of the first Terminator scene where a terminator sneaks into the resistance hideout lit up the place. The terminator character was played by Fraco Columbu who is a bodybuilder.

Let's rock!! Totally impractical against infantry as you'd get shot but pretty good against drones and helicopters. Or, if you can lie prone as in 'the colonial marines handbook', pretty handy in ambushes and squad suppression.

Always thought this was a great design for a scifi movie. With the advances in robotics and technology, this could be a valid design in the future. A heads up targeting display, robotically assisted aiming, and a harness that distributes the weight of the rig evenly. Plus, well, look at it. It just looks badass.
