When I was a med-surg PCT, I had an RN tell me that she could not assist me with a bed bath and bed change because she was overqualified, literally said, "Oh no, I can't do that, I'm overqualified for that task." and walked off, when all I needed her to do was grab me more towels and an extra sheet lol. Then had to audacity to ask for vitals for another pt, STAT. I mean, she demanded it. But another PCT, a seasoned one, told her to get off her lazy ass and assist with ambulating the pt (because the pt was a two person assist) The house supe had to pull the RN aside and remind her that patient care is also stated in her job description. 🙃

I work at a hospital as a safety sitter and I see the CNAS do so much!! Literally they run around the whole 12 hrs and the nurses do call the cnas for everything even if they see the cna is busy!!!!

As a LPN I appreciate my CNAs and don’t mind helping them when I can. I understand coming from being a CNA and the nurse not helping. And I’ve been a nurse with CNAs who don’t want to help. Working both sides i understand both sides. Thank you for all the hard work you all do.

I am a cna and in nursing school i am positively going to help my cnas its a hard job and it takes team work...honestly i believe every state should require people to be a cna first then a nurse.

Just watched this video. Currently work at a hospital and called off because I’m so exhausted. I was going to be the only person with 30 patients and 6 nurses that don’t like to help. I’m so over it. You’re going to be a great nurse!

This video was very detailed and different, loved it. I related dude, I’ve had a couple of mishaps with extremely lazy nurses, that ignore call lights, and will seriously wait for you to come and get it when they’re sitting right next to the room. Smh it’s sooo annoying..but I just remember to do my job and my part because at the end of the day I know I did what I’m supposed to do. Even if the nurse did not.

Love the video. I agree with you totally if it wasn't for us the CNA's they really would be lost. I don't know how many nurses I had to actually teach/show them the simplest thing they should know about their patient. What is ashame is when the patient think you're their nurse and get frustrated when they haven't seen their nurse all day. But it does make me feel good when they think I'm their nurse and tell me I should have been because I know what I'm doing lol

You're right! I totally agree about the vaccination and all. CNAs do everything for the nurses. Everybody is only one person but I feel like to if, the CNAs need help and the nurses just sitting down on their butts because that's mostly all what they do, and not doing anything, they should be able to help the CNAs out. They be wanting the CNAs to do everything and then some of the CNAs in some states don't get pay enough. They need to up the pay for CNAs in some states because I feel like some of these CNAs don't get paid enough. Pray and try to hang in there for better🙏hoping everything work out.

❤ love to hear you expressing your experience with not so easy to work with coworkers. To me coworker cohesiveness has such an impact on the care of the patient ect. It’s stressful enough to try to get through all your patients, having a “ understanding & companionate “ coworker really helps!! This is a very concerning part of working on a medical unit ect. A clear head & heart leads to better performance all the way around.

Hearing you talk about nurses not wanting to help really bothers me. I was a CNA for 3 years before becoming a nurse and I could never EVER imagine making a CNA feel like they need to do the “dirty work.” I’ve only been a nurse in an ED so I am used to taking my own vitals and can’t imagine not even wanting to help with that? Like we need to take vitals anyways before administering a lot of the medications. For me a CNA is someone who can help me when I need an extra hand to do a brief change or someone who can answer the call light when I am busy with another patient. Someone who will let me know when they noticed a change. CNAs are not the people who nurses should rely on to do “dirty work.” We came into this field to help from the bottom of our hearts. 🙏🏻

I’ve been a CNA now for almost 3 months & it’s unfortunately at a rehab center. (Not my first choice or a choice at all but they’re so lenient & I didn’t have my license yet, took forever to come n the mail so they took me in) and were only short staffed bc we have soooo many no call no shows! I sometimes have 18 patients so I totally understand and can relate to that love. Luckily nobodies walked off bc of the vaccine, it’s jus ppl are lazy. The nurses are nice thank god & are helpful, it’s jus the lazy ass employees (other CNAS) especially evening shift. 🙄 but team night shift & let’s jus remain positive 💙

I think if there starting nursing school,they need to make them start out as a CNA and work there way up so they will know how it is because some nurses think they don't have to help u the only thing separating the two are the letters behind there names there no different from a cna

I currently live in a nursing home where the place is severely understaffed. Some of the nurses here act like they're above a CNA. It's absolutely disgusting. When I was in the hospital for over two months I saw the same shit. Experienced it. I'm a trache patient so when my machine was going off because I needed suctioning, the nurse was just watching. All the nurses on the ICU floor are qualified to do RT work but she couldn't be bothered and waited for RT to answer the alarm. I promise you I hated having her. I hated their "we're a team" crap when they think they're above helping.

I am a pct for am shift! 12 hrs and 18 pts max with most days being one tech (me) I do vitals and sugars Q4, hourly rounds,pass water, clean patients, help others to restroom, change and make beds, comfort distraught or scared patients, pray for patients, call rapids and code blues, do cpr, remove iv, take patients to car upon discharge, transport dialysis patients in beds, recheck vitals on patients I am concerned about, place male and female pure wicks, chart..then chart more, feed patients, turn patients, document all concerning things to cover my butt after nurse is told, help managers by running to look for things throughout hospital, lab runs, bed baths and assistance in shower, and so much more

Girl! Sometimes at my hospital I’m the only tech for a 44 pt floor. Most of the nurses help me do things but we do a lot. I’ll have like 15 blood sugars every three hours, we have to do atleast 5 baths, take vitals, and answer call lights, Is & Os and then chart; I’m like what does that leave the nurses to do? Just past meds? We’re never fully staffed and it’s because no one ever wants to float to my floor because we do so much. I like working in the hospital tho, you learn a lot but it’s definitely frustrating. I’m so ready to be done with nursing school and I won’t do my techs like that.

GN Aleysia, I'm a CNA too, I work @ a hospital and nursing home. The patients and residents might have their issues but they still make me happy. Certain staff from various depts really should work on their work ethic. Some RN's feel that their title trumps your and can try to bully you or intimidate. In that case you should stand your ground and maintain your purpose... The PATIENTS/RESIDENTS. Keeping in mind the kindness goes a far way. Great video.

I totally understand the struggle, I am going through the same in LTC. Agency is the only staff in the building but lately it's been a huge decline in even agency staff. Today one young lady literally walked out and said she was done with CNA life for all the same reasons you stated in the beginning of your video. Honestly I felt this and also management!!! I just got my first job as a CNA and I just worked my first shift all alone after shadowing for 3 days and girl I started the shift with no way to chart and I didn't know I was working the 3pm to 11pm shift until 2:15pm cause they didn't tell me and the director of staff wasn't there the last 2 days of me shadowing so I texted her following up about when she wanted me in next and she said "oh someone was supposed to tell you, your scheduled to come in today" i had 45 minutes to get ready and be there I told her I was going to be late cause it was so last minute like what!!!

Thank you so much for going into detail with this video. I’m a CNA at a nursing home & boy is it short staffed. I work overnight & it’s myself & another aide with 40 residents on the floor.The one nurse will sit for 3-4 hours straight most nights & wont answer one call bell. One night I floated to another floor & I had 29 residents, half were covid 🤦‍♀️

When you said 15 my mouth dropped open. I work in a long term care facility and we currently have around 60 residents and I work 11pm-7am. I have around 30 residents tonight on my own because we have 2 CNAs working tonight… for the whole building

I work at a snf mostly NOC & some PM shifts. It's very defeating to see some RN's/LVN's napping while we CNA's have 20+ residents and then they ask us to do vitals as well! It's ridiculous. Upon hire, I was told we would not be doing vitals as our jobs are busy enough!

I love my CNA’S and help when I can and there are lazy nurses but not every nurse is like that. Sometimes CNA’S underestimate the work that we have to do. Staffing issues are everywhere and in every aspect.

Right! I am exhausted. Its non stop. I’m at the point where i do as much as i can but, sadly I’m burnt out and im considering going per dm because my days off are all just recording . We are under valued and under paid. They move us where ever they want to anyways. They sent me to another one of our hospitals the other day. It’s great experience but, I was told at 5am and start time id 6:50 am the other hospital is about 20 additional minutes to my normal commute with no additional pay. 12 pt 2 RNs one completely rude the entire shift. Firstly I know that they are under staffed but, we have to be a team !

I have a couple other opportunities but I’m not sure what shift would be best for me. I’m a hard worker and like to stay pretty busy but not overwhelmed. I love this video. I’m a patient care assistant . I have 17 bed bound patients every day since the beginning of Covid-19. On the weekends I have 34 patients.

I live in Great Falls Montana and I know they are short staffed with cna's, I went to college in Community Health. I'm looking at a few other jobs but is cna worth it, I grew up with my own health problems and really want to do more for patients as some nurses and etc treat you like you are just a pay check.

Yes I'm a cna and I work night shift and they fired 2 cna so I was by myself for over 60 patients and I asked my nurse for help and this nurse is also my boss and he said he was busy and he couldn't guess what he was doing playing a game on his phone that's y he couldn't help me and then he tells me that this patient needed this and another that really wtf help me out and .ost of the time when a patient calls they want the nurse so b kind nurses

Oh yeah girl I quit working at the nursing home they Were giving me to many patients plus the nurse didn’t want to help. I’m thinking about working in home health. Leave that working with 15 patients by yourself for the birds lord 🙏🏾

Yeah I'm a CNA down here in Ohio and the nurses some of them do the same thing when there's a three-hour floor and there's trays to be passed and they watch you pass all the trays and have to feed people too he got so bad one day I was about to walk out my job because it is nurses acting like they too good to help out CNAs it's like we supposed to look up to them the nurses are and they learn patient care and adl in nursing school I don't understand that it's everybody is responsible for those patients that's why the next time they do it I'm just going to walk out my job and go find me another job on my lunch break

I think all levels of Nursing should be a ladder. CNA first then LPN then RN ect. we have to do it in EMS. I'm also a CNA with Hospital and Nursing home experience. and I can tell RN's that had never done CNA or LPN before.
