This bump map solution is such a lifesaver for giving complex geometry rounded corners. And being non-destructive it's great for experimenting. Amazing!

I never mess with rendering, but this was extremely helpful for when i do. Great tip for keeping original geometry, file size down, and still getting realistic looking renders. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing I used to do it with blender ‘s cycle render by adding a bevel node in the normal map and it is very interesting to see the way that you achieve it with vray thanks . Now my question is do you have a control on the nombre of segments that you can use to emphasize the bevel like in blender?

Yes. Using FredoCorner (or RoundCorner) you can just enter the number of segments you want. Using the V-Ray method, there are no segments since the curve or radius bypasses the geometry and is applied, as you noted, via bump.

V-Ray does work on both Windows and Mac, but is only available as part of the SketchUp Studio offering for Windows.

That was a terrific tutorial Thanks so very much I appreciate. I was wondering if you could title your videos a little more towards what you're doing. For instance you used an extension that I don't currently have and probably won't ever use because every time I renew my sketchup I have to go back in and set up all those extensions which kills me in workflow. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get extensions to follow over with upgrades for updates I'd appreciate it Thanks so much. But I'll keep watching

@@SketchUp is there a way to keep the extension and it's settings intact between each yearly upgrade? That's why I don't use extensions.. it's a pain to set them up with every new version of SketchUp. Thanks.

@@kpeel1357 Most of your extensions will work if you copy them from the previous SU version's 'plugins' folder to the new version's 'plugin' folder. Some of the more complex extensions, like V-Ray may need to be reinstalled. Should only take a few mins...if you have many extensions, then it's good to use this opportunity to review and copy over just the ones you really need and use often.

@@SketchUp Thanks so much for that information could you share a link that shows how to copy over extensions? I'm not even sure how that works when I can't get general settings to come back in I have to reset up everything each time. I'm not mad at it I'm just used to it now and I do love sketchup. Thanks for all your help
