There are many videos here talking about selling digital goods on Etsy, and it might seem easy to make a lot of money. However I very much doubt that's true for everybody. I want to try for myself and see how far I can go and if this can really turn out to be something!

What's your experience with selling digital products on Etsy? I would love to know! It's so hard to sift through the ton of videos that only talks about how much you can *potentially* make, but I want to know real experiences from artists!

That's pretty good progress for your first 5-6 months. Relying on Etsy to bring traffic to your store does work. It takes time, but it does work. Without ads, too. I sell physical products (bird and squirrel feeders) and it took about 3 months for things to finally take off (pardon the pun). Since then, I average between 25-30 orders a month and it keeps me just busy enough (I also have a day job). I had 60 orders this past November and that was crazy. I also sell wooden jack o' lanterns for Halloween so September was a really good month as well. I have a FB and IG page but I don't really use them to drive traffic to my Etsy shop. I also have a Pinterest page but I haven't done anything with that since last summer. Between those three sources, I get 10-15 visits a month. I average over 800 visits a month, total. My conversion rate is always around 3%, which is very good, by Etsy standards. It's all Etsy. It does work.

Yay! Thanks for sharing your experience! I actually had a tiktok account for this etsy store but after a couple posts i found it took too much time so i gave up lol.

I have to say that conversation rate is astronomical. Etsy sellers salivate to get that turnaround.

Don't be disheartened by the slow sales. It's very common for online sales to die down during late spring and all through summer. That's why a lot of small businesses go to vendor markets during this time. Keep it up and you'll see that money increases once fall rolls around.

I really liked your video. Thanks for your honesty and for explaining your evolution in etsy. I'm a bit tired of those videos that promises a lot of sales, but actually don't talk how those sales come. I have an Etsy shop too from 6 years ago and my presence in social media it's pretty low, so Etsy get most of my sells and I think that's pretty good. Usually I have 100 sales per month, but I also saw my sales decreasing in May and June. I hope after summer it gets better. Usually the start of schoolar year, Halloween and Christmas are great seasons for sales. I can't say that's completely how it works, but sales themselves and new listings attrack new sales. The star seller program and bad reviews can affect too.

Ooo thanks for the info! Its so great to hear from real people experiences! Social media only shows the “successes” and not real life most case scenarios.

Great video and really helpful! I am actively working on opening my etsy store, so this video was really helpful to prepare myself for the reality of selling digital products. I have one question. How many products did you have listed when you first opened your store? I am unsure how many I should have in stock when opening, and it's so confusing to figure out. :')

Hi! I'm glad it helped! I had about 40 listings I believe when opening, and within the first month or so I reached 100 listings. Now I have about 200. I see other stores have somewhere around 1000, so that's my goal. Def have as many as you possibly can to increase your chance of being seen by customers!

Wow i think you should be very proud of yourself. Your etsy store is considered successful for sure! Not everyone could have that many sales in 6 months. May I ask how many listings you had that first 1-2 months?

Hello Melanie, I had a question about SEO, or how to get more views without advertisement. Did you plan out on titles, descriptions, or something else such as SEO or tags? I wonder if you can make a video about this.🙂I started my etsy store years ago, but it got nearly less than 2 views, mainly family members visiting my store-- I had to shut it down, but would want to make a new etsy shop some day.

Do you think it is still worth to start on etsy?or shopify?
@melmelmade
@melmelmade 6 күн бұрын
Absolutely! You do need to do a lot of research to decide what product to sell. I would say etsy is lower risk! Shopify is a different story bc you have to generate your own traffic 100%.

@@melmelmade seconding this. I opened my store at the same time on both Etsy and Shopify - after three months (when the free trial ended for Shopify) I’d literally made 0 sales, compared to 200+ on Etsy

I started my shop in November of last year and it’s doing pretty well 🤞 I sell physical products and February is where things increased and I’ve been averaging about 50-60 orders a month? I don’t actively promote on social media but I have accounts on TT/instagram and tumblr I hope I can develop products that bring in a lil more money tho ❤

Hey there, to make more sales try to add personalized products to your shop. they are selling very well on etsy because people are emotionally attracted to this type of product.
