I remember one episode a mom was like "you better win and make my money back" to her TODDLER. also I despise how they treated Brenna. her being 'bratty' isnt a personality trait, its a natural response to extreme stress. no kid should have to go through this

Hi I have never watched this and never do I plan to but I do thing I can shed light on this as someone who has a level 2 qualification in childcare at a uk college . Fun Fact: TLC was owned by the same company that owned the Discovery Channel. Originally TLC had very learning-centric shows. It was, in some ways, another Discovery Channel, or another Science Channel -- all of their content was largely educational, though with a heavier emphasis on being entertaining as well. But at some point Discovery realized there was a lot of money to be made in reality TV, and started creating shows to get that bread. However, they didn't want to put that shit on their own, respectable network, so they put it on TLC. And that's how we got to where we are today.

While a LOT of pageants, pageant coaches, and pageant parents are gross and exploitative, as seen in Toddlers and Tiaras, there are some that genuinely are not! The show "Kim of Queens" (you can watch it free on KZfaq) is actually a great show with a great coach that doesn't exploit or sexualize the kids at all (and none of them are toddlers, which helps). She doesn't do "full glitz" (big hair and gaudy makeup) pageants, especially for the kids, she doesn't make the performances or outfits sexually charged (and actively speaks against it), she works on the girls' confidence and talent, she doesn't only care about winning no matter what, and she makes sure that the girls are doing it because _they_ want to do it. If "Toddlers and Tiaras" shows the exploitative side of the child pageant industry, "Kim of Queens" shows the helpful and wholesome side. Plus, it's a fun show overall, lmao

The fact that Eden and Mackenzie weren’t included is just blasphemous.

does anyone else wonder what Mike will say when it's literally xmas and we all literally can't go anywhere but home?

I started watching Michael microphone when his videos would get a hundred likes and I’ve always appreciated how seriously he talks about these kinds of shows bc I talk about them the exact same way.

fun fact no one asked: mortified was pretty popular in brazil for a lil while. it aired on disney channel and in open air television. i remember loving it so much, and also thinking that it was the best cause it was brazilian. you must imagine my complete shock when i found out it was not brazilian and that it wasn't even from the united states. in my defense, the brazilian dubbing in INSANE and its so good you barely notice any difference. also, i was a dumb child.

I genuinely just hope that these kids grow out of this nonsense their parents brought to them. This kind of treatment can leave life long scars. Being 3 and having the adults around you telling that you need fake teeth and drinks in order to be liked is simply heartbreaking.

My mum and I used to watch What Not To Wear on TLC all the time, and she hated all the reality tv commercials 😂
