My advice on multitools is avoid anything that has removable bits. I recently bought a Topeak Mini 9, with a 6mm to 8mm adaptor ... you know where this is going. It came off, fell off or got misplaced when i needed to use the 6mm key. Now it's a Mini 8! Cannondale got it right about 20 years ago. It's tool also has a 6mm to 8mm adaptor, but it is held securely in an internal recess. It's there when you need it, and out of the way when you don't.

Agreed and a shame - A while ago I lost a screwdriver head from a very expensive lightweight titanium Leatherman!

Great review, anyway am looking between the Mini 20 Pro and Hexus X, may I know what would be your choice? Thanks. Ps- the only part I like about the Hexus is I do not require to bring extra tire levels and there are reviews about the chaintool of Mini 20 pro is harder to use

Hello Charles Chong. For me, I would go for the Hexus. I'm not so concerned about the size/weight saving and prefer the ease of use of the bigger multi-tool.

do you know how long those 5mm hex bits protrude? some of the saddle bolts are hard to get to, mine has one on the top that you have to get through between the middle cutout holes of the saddle.

How do you use the chain pin tool that's on the tip of the bottle opener?

Hi Mirek. You slide the 'rounded' part onto the pin and then twist the multitool to break the pin. The narrower straight part is a Mavic M7 spoke tool that you slide over the bladed spoke so that you don't twist it. I hope that helps - thanks for the question.

@@RealLifeReviews My apologies but why would one need to break a pin if they can just be pushed out all the way by the chain breaker tool? Is it for a time that the chain is damaged and the plates are bent?

@@mirekbns it's for when you insert the new pin. It is extended and you need to break off the extended part otherwise it'll stick out (and not run properly potentially damaging your derailleur etc.). Not all chains use 'quick links' or 'snap links' - although the trend is moving this way. Shimano is one company that didn't used to have 'quick links' but now does.

Once again, the tools are too short to be of any real use in tight places. A practical test on a bike, adjusting various components would be a far more useful review.

The trade off between weight, size and usability is always an issue with multi tools.
