In this week's video, Navajo Historian, Wally Brown shares about multiple topics. Including the mysticism that so many think fills our culture.
Really there isn't mysticism. That has been added. Superstition is also something that has been added. These are based on fear and not the traditional way.

Never allow power to give rise to superstition, for it is a mind towards power that creates superstition. This breeds wicked thoughts, but the Truth sets us apart from wickedness because all of creation is a loving source. The only power comes from creation itself.

I am not American Indian and I don't pretend to be, but I discovered a spiritual connection out in creation with The Creator years ago. There's so much wisdom in The Navajo Teachings and many other American Indian people. When I'm out in creation, everything seems to be spiritual and connected to our Creator and it lifts my spirit and I try to become one with all God has made. Thanks for all your inspiration!!

what's interesting about this is that the original meaning of the word "mystic" simply referred to one who is initiated (into the "mysteries" of life), so it was potentially much closer in essence to the traditional holy people than how the word is more often used now... and indeed much of European paganism/mysticism was similarly based upon the Earth's teachings and wisdom. i believe the original meaning of "magic" is lost now too, but it originally referred more to those "gifted" (or those with "abilities" to help) in Earth's energies and teachings... it was all based in channeling elemental energy, herbalism, empathy with animal spirits, understanding of ecosystems, minerals and alchemical make-up of the world surrounding us, deeper meanings of words and invocations, ritual and intention, etc... it was essentially a form of esoteric science, learned by studying the Earth's ways, very similar to other indigenous wisdoms. there were originally a lot more spiritual principles regarding balance in these original teachings (similar to what is called "karma" in other religions), that are lost in the modern perception of witchcraft as hocus pocus, "voila" from nothing. and there are so many different factions today who profess themselves as mystics and magicians, many of whom have forgotten those ways, or serve entities/intentions who do not honor the balance of life, and who believe that they can "cast spells" and manipulate reality without consequence. between this and the clashing with other religions, the word has developed a stigma and it's understandable why indigenous peoples would want to distance themselves from the concept of western "Mysticism." but many mystics do still practice the old ways.

So, so, so much wisdom here, thank you for sharing and trying to teach us all. "You are not a victim, you are not racists, seek forward not grievance backwards"... 13th moon.. 13th. We are all of the holy people. You have a choice. Personally, I like the saying "into the mystic", for me that is movement out of the materialist world that surrounds us. The 'negative' connotation of 'mystic' is a connotation draped over anything the materialist world cannot define of put into a square hole. They have forsaken half of the whole and may offer science that is helpful to physical bodies, but in their dogma they have lost themselves. Peace- mjb

Assumamos nossa responsabilidade!!! Gratidão pela partilha amorosa de sempre!!! A'ho!!!
