Where I live, lighing a candle for someone who's passed away is a common sign of respect for the person who died, and expressing condolances and empathy for the ones they left behind. For the loved ones I lost, I always light a candle on the day they passed, and remember them.

I was on the streets for almost 3yrs, broken, addicted, hopeless. I would often get blessed, for I was born with a huge heart & full of God's light, just was lost. Through God's grace & love for me, shown by angels like yourself, I was able to love myself enough to choose life & peace. The greatest blessings while homeless was not just the money, but a person's ability to recognize that I am a fellow child of God & treat me with kindness & compassion, especially when at the lowest one can get. I am struggling financially myself, but hope this helps bring warmth & a genuine smile to someone's day, for we all need someone to care. Oh, & on July 16, God Willing, I will celebrate 8yrs clean/sober & free from the bondage of self. WE CAN & DO RECOVER FROM THE HOPELESS SLOW SUICIDE ✌️❤🤗🙏

I have done the same here in Scotland, UK. My son gave me a bundle of cash, i asked if i could spend it on getting the homeless backpacks filled with essentials, and he said, of course, and gave me more cash, but i told him i had plenty and to keep that extra for himself. Me and my friend bought backpacks, tarps, wax hats, gloves, ponchos, socks, baby wipes, toothbrush/paste, water, peanuts, trail bars, writing pads and pens in case anyone needed to write home or write down their thoughts. I had a couple of pounds left and shared it out amongst those that we saw. 1 guy had a dog, so we had bought 4 cans in case we saw anyone with a dog. It's hard, but it's good to give out the backpacks you wish you could do more.. and each one wants you to stay and chat a while, which we did.. takes a toll on your wee heart though, one man was my sons age and he didn't want to chat and that was fine also. Best wishes to you, everything helps them, they all appreciated just the few pounds each we gave, as they trade stuff and sell stuff - don't be disheartened if they ask for money and you don't have it . I only gave about £2 each. The last man i had ran out of money, but as he had a dog, i felt i had to go to the cashpoint, we can only get out £10 as the smallest amount here so he got lucky. 😂 Edit: I did all this about 7yrs ago... So, now i see lots doing it, my son said at the time you should film it and people will donate, but i said no I'm to shy and at the time people were filming themselves just to make themselves look good. I didn't like the thought of that. But Knate does it so well and he's so humble with it.

I speak from experience shop at the swatmeet and load up on stuff you can get 80 percent cheaper on clothes and tent's and clothe 10 time's more people I'm a scouter that's poor and in 9 months IV given 738 homless people clothes out of my own money I'm a budget expert

My son, his wife & myself get blankets, coats, tarps, gloves, socks & other things to help the homeless. My son goes & takes them stuff just about every day. Last week we cooked chili and fed 65 homeless people! They're so grateful for anything. It's so heartbreaking to see what they're going through. So many have nothing. We must always remember there are people less fortunate than we are. We take for granted our warm houses, warm beds and food, just the basic needs that so many others don't have. Thank you for everything you do, Knate. God will truly bless you for all you do!! ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻

I’d often give him a pound as I’m poor too but he did well often got his can of beer ha ha! Knate, have you thought of going to dollar tree or a similar shop you have in the US, & perhaps buying some little notepads and pens for them? I’m just thinking they can have the option to write down their emotions or feelings if they need to, or write numbers or reminders etc. Just a little thought 💗 Blessings to you always, thank you for all you do. I do hope he’s able to get back on his feet. I hate the way work places treat those with injuries or who are disabled, although changes have been made, so much still needs to change. Im disabled and in some of the online communities I’m in, some of the stories I read of them subtly being pushed out is horrendous. X

@@retard_activated I just thought it must get lonely out there for them, if they have a little notepad and pen, they at least have the option to express themselves sometimes. We all need an outlet don’t we? I know when I was poorly after my breakdown and I was in hospital being stabilised on meds for my depression, I used my notepad to express things I couldn’t verbally articulate. It helped a little.

Thank You Knate 👍 for all you do to help these folks that are in need. I do what I can to help them. I make sandwiches and collect blankets jackets and sleeping bag to give them. Also bottle water and snacks. Sometimes socks, shoes, shirts, gloves and hygiene products. I try to go out every week but I don't have funds to spend on things for them. I'm trying to help. I am 66 & on SS. I don't get much but God always provides 🙏🙏🙏

Hurts my heart so much to know that statistics show that over 40% of the homeless population is disabled. I'm disabled myself and it's been a hell of a process trying to get basic federal help, genuinely the process is so traumatizing to go through and if it weren't for my partner, I'd be on the street myself. Thank you for being kind and helping these people regardless of how their mental state seems. There's a lot of stigma and it prevents people from trying to help.

My brother died in 2015 in Wallace Park on the 4th of July in Portland Oregon, I left Colorado to meet up with him in 2015 just before he died I got hooked up with a ministry in kelso Washington & committed to a year program I was already clean & sober 5 yrs when I entered the program, I graduated & soon as I got out of the ministry got a good job got my own place & got plugged into a local church & serve in the church every week & attend every Sunday today I'm 14 yrs clean & sober & thank you JESUS for all you've done & continue to do in my life . JESUS will change your life if you ask him into your heart & submit your life to HIM , praise be to GOD for pulling me out of the pit of hell. by faith alone in Christ.

I know here in washington State, they can get ebt while being homeless. I don't know about the cash anymore. But in washington, they get about $200 a month for food per person.

It'd be cool if there was some way we could communicate with the people you help, whether through email or other online communication, so that they have someone to talk to and don’t feel so disconnected to the rest of humanity. Sort of like a pen pal. I wonder how realistic that would be 🤔

I worked as a volunteer dealing with folks like this, and it totally changed my attitude. Some poor souls will never be self supporting and will need help to just barely survive. Who knows what each of their stories were? About 5% of the human population are just broken and can't make it. It's our responsibility to help them out.

One of the most reoccurring comments when you ask what they want to eat and almost always they say they aren't picky. Then you promote them to choose what they want and need. 10/10 they chose basic life needs. Clothes, food, transportation, communication, the need to get clean and stay clean. Literally the basics. This is how you change our future.
