I agree. I have been going back and forth about posting my opinion. She looks in the mirror and hates what she sees (yes there are African Carribeans and African latinos) she hates her identity. So it's easy for her to say the terrible things she says, it's how she feels about herself. As a dark skinned woman, I've been dealing with this all my life. It's to the point where I hate all things monkeys even little stuff ones (toys I got at my baby shower and any items that has monkeys on them). This is nothing new, we are made to feel inferior to lighter skinned woman. It took years to accept my dark skin and I'm still learning to love it. I hope they make an example out of her. They've known she was like this and they still decided to show her on television. This goes to show you how they disregard the feelings and respect for African Americans; and they feel that degrading black women on television is good for ratings.

I feel your pain. Since I was very young from time to time, I’ve had to deal with colorism, even before knowing that there was a term to describe it. To make it worse, there are always so many people even other black women who enable it which sets us all back and makes it hard to address and root out.

Erica has always been a vindictive, wicked, evil and a violent person. She is a aging narcissist and has gotten worse as she aged, she never got therapy to deal with her childhood wounds and trauma instead she hides behind relationships, sex, alcohol and makeup. While inflicting pain and misery upon everyone she encounters. Erica is still yet to showcase any form of growth in her character and continues to deprive herself from being checked into a psychiatric facility. As a Black Latino, I used to defend people outside this community from the misjudgment levied from those that don’t understand the difference. How Latinos are black too, but unfortunately there are some who don’t see themselves as Black. Colorism is real in Latino culture. Erica Mena is not off the hook and cannot be given a pass. It gives the rest of us a bad name. People like her will always side with the ‘others’ if it came down to it.

Especially when she actually didn't talk about her kid, she talked about her relationship with her son, which is parenting. Parenting is in relation to how the parent treats their child, and how that relationship affects the child, like the child's perception of you. A child can't control the way their parent parents, only the parent can. If you can't say those same words to the child and they would have the same effect as the parent, it's not talkin about the child. It's obviously some truth to it because everyone that's been involved in her life has said the same thing. It's definitely still a dig and a trigger, just ain't talking about the child. That's where I learned how to interact with the black community, so being a person of non-color i had to realize i am different then my family and friends and how I was raised with them but do not have the same rights to talk to them the way they've always talked to eachother. RRG has not only brought up hurtful things people do, but why you shouldn't say those things. I'd hope some people of color themselves benefit from learning there offensive and why.
