As one of Charlemagne's millions of descendants, I found this docudrama very interesting and informative. Most of the videos I have ever seen about Charlemagne only tell about him in his later years, and don't tell about how he won and kept power and his crown. He seemed to be a complex man, very religious, ruthless in his quest to gain territory and riches, cruel to his enemies, a loving father, and a benevolent King who wanted his people to be advanced and educated . He was a man of his time, the Father of Europe, a ferocious warrior, a Great King, and my 38th Great Grandfather.

CORRECTION: Charlemagne was NOT the first HRE. He was crowned Emperor of the Romans and only did so to continue his father's quest to be legitimate kings. They had no Legitimacy so Pepin realised by owning the Pope and getting God's appointment he might succeed (previous attempts had failed). Charles was only concerned with ensuring his dynasty was legitimate and secure. His stamp never changed from "King of the Franks" and his will never intended to pass on the Emperor title. By chance he only had one son so it continued to be used as a shine on ruling Italy. Otto I was the real first HRE, continuing the great work of his father, Henry the Fowler in an attempt to stand above all the German rulers. The legimacy is drawn from Charlemagne' Papal appointment which is why he was the catalyst, but not a HRE. He was a Frank and proud of it. Future HREs would marry Byzantine princesses and adopt Byzantine law to be more Roman.

Please get the Documentary dubbed into English by someone(Good or Average). I have seen this documentary once and would like to play it in the background . But,I cannot do that since I have to keep looking at the screen for subtitles.
