Me too. Through different lines. THROUGH Edward I and maybe both of his wives via Joan of Acre and her half brother, Thomas of Brotherton. We're a pretty prolific bunch.

How did we get from the Name Karl to Charlesmagne? I know Charles is the english version of Karl, but what is the rest.

Charl le Magné, early Frankish pronounced as Karl le Magna. Then English fuckers joined the words to pronounce them as one, or maybe they adopted it from the Norman French who ruled them from William the Conqueror through the Plantagenets to Richard III. Though to be fair the nobles started speaking English with the accession of Henry Bolinbroke aka Henry IV of Lancaster in 1399.
