@@BaldmanFPV Shit gets mad complicated. It's like on the one hand clearly running the camera from the VTX output is resolving a lot of noise issues. That's what got rid of the diagonal lines for me using a lot of these VTX's. But then sometimes the idea is to not do that and run everything from the same voltage rail to avoid voltage differences. I've never been able to get those built in mics to work for shit.

@@Magneticitist ive only had good luck with some cheaper cameras with built in pin-hole Mic's built-in and they would actually give you pretty clear audio. But yeah i agree, i cant get a clear aduio signal anymore with these high power analog VTX's. I know things change a lot. What VTX should i get to replace the stock crappy vtx that came on my iflight nazgul5. I want to get a good quality analog vtx that would actually be able to give me some real range like something with 1W or 2.5W. I do enjoy Long Rangle flying sometimes just cruising around fast in the sky and i hate when im not even that far and i cant keep going bc the video just gets too choppy. Meanwhile i see some of these people get amazing results on low mW VTX's before.. I do have an older version, but new "TBS Unify 5G8 Video Transmitter V1.0" it's labeled on the back. Cant confirm if its a 200mW VTX or like a regular 800mW VTX so i guess ill just give it a try tomorrow to compare it.. Also if your using the smart audio for vtx control, im assuming it can still be used for audio transmission? Im looking to add that onto my 7" LR build for sure, so im trying to figure out how to get a decent audio and video feed for as long as distance as possible. But there's a ton of Wifi interference here and plus everything else.. What bands and channels are recommended to be used when theres a decent amount of wifi from homes, in the area?

@@mxracingunlimitedltd7784 I more or less just try to experiment with what bands and channels work the best for me in any given area. It will be a combination of what tunes best with your antennas as well as surrounding noise. I try to do that tuning at the lowest power levels. I've had the best luck with AKK or Rush vtx's and I doubt it really matters which so long as it does 1W or more. This is based on driving around a lot of obstructions though.. and I'd guess that nearly any decent VTX should work well pretty far out at even low power levels so long as you had LOS. I stuck with the Rush just for the dedicated mic input but it does claim to hit 2.5W lol. I always make sure to use the 5v output to supply the cameras as well. They are going to be well filtered using those brands. Any extra filtering that can be added may also help. The way you've got your grounds wired is also important. It seems the best approach is to make sure all grounds are tied to the same node. Not just the same path, but the node/point at which they terminate should all be the same pad or bundle. Also doesn't hurt to do a check on noise and harmonics to see if any of your control signal may be interfering with the video at times. Like maybe land somewhere the video looks bad, then cut off the controls to see if the video clears up any. Smart audio is supposed to be able to also transmit regular audio across the same channel but I never had much luck with it. It just sounded like trash and wasn't loud enough. I believe you're suppose to AC couple the microphone to the smart audio line for it to work as intended. Maybe even add some kind of resistive termination as well, not sure.

@@BaldmanFPV The formula is called the Inverse-square law, which affects all electromagnetic radiation, like our 5.8GHz RF, means that as the energy spreads the intensity per given area decreases at the inverse of the square of the distance from the source. So for every 2x increase in distance the energy is spread over an area 4x larger, therefore the intensity of the energy is 1/4. This is modelled in "Free Space Path Loss" which is what is used to calculate the decay of RF power over distance. You can visualize this here: hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/Forces/imgfor/isqrr.gif Also RF strength is measure in decibels (dB), and as a logarithmic scale it means that a doubling of power is 3dB and a quadrupling is 6dB which equates to double the transmission distance. So that can be either a 6dB (4x) increase in the VTX output power or a 6dB higher antenna gain between VTX and goggles. 10x further range requires 100x the power or 20dB increase. For example; if with 100mw the signal strength at 1km is -60dB and at 2km would be -66dB; to have the same signal strength requires the VTX to output 6dB more power (4x100mw)= 400mw.
