In this video I have a great example of what rear differential howl or whine upon tip in sounds like. I give an explanation of what "tip in" is and explanation of how this particular symptom exhibits it's self. I also briefly go over what causes this symptom.
As mentioned in the video this video is not meant to be an exhaustive source of information on how to properly and correctly diagnose a noise coming from your differential. This is only an example with a brief explanation. Do note that this symptom could potentially be caused by another issue. The video is only meant to be an example and to give a suggestion as to what "may" be causing this particular symptom.
Note: At the 2:57 minute mark I mention that if the pinion depth and ring gear back lash is not set up properly that this will cause the differential to make noise. This may not be true in 100% of cases. In my experience though, it is.
