There are many ways to program or automate the redrum. This looks at an innovative way to auto-quantize using the Drum Solo options. Easy Keyboard setup with a lot of potential.

Dude you are a genius. I'm sitting here thinking, "Why the hell didn't I think of that?" I have always thought that electronic music was always limited by the fact that drum solos couldn't be improvised live. However, this shows me that it is possible. thanks man!

The "tinker when nothing is going right and you're having an off day" mindset is great, and Reason is definitely a good DAW for that :o I love the physicality of the DAW, you can really get immersed and explore :D

Much appreciated. I'm new with Reason, and I've found that manual sequencing of the drums tends to be very cumbersome. Thanks for demonstrating methods to make the drum sequencing a little more "free," and potentially far less of a time sink. I will definitely take a look at your other videos.

It's very fun! At high resolution you can get some serious glitch sounds too. Try with a distortion you can twiddle with a knob for best results. Thanks for the comment! -Ace

IMPORTANT! IN between 3:30 and 3:40 you say you will make it from scratch. Please do this always in tutorials. For keeners, we love to see what is going on behind the scenes. Its not just enough to pull up an effects patch and show the effect. We would rather see exactly what is modulated and how it is modulated. Great effect, loved it, super awesome fun time happy friends

I love it that you guys are willing to help others understand and apply these techniques but you gotta remember that you know and we don't. I need to see what your fast mouse clicking is doing. And you omit explaining some of the clicks like we are supposed to already know. I stop by to learn and I think it is sometime taken for granted we see every move of the mouse. You seems to be a rushing through the video. Thanks for your time though. I did get some helpful things out of it.

The individual drums in redrum also have a "load sample" button. look for it on each drum and use that one.

It's possible, but not by default. This is how to do it. 1. Create subtractor. Sync LFO 1 and bind the LFO Rate to something (combi knob or remote override) 2. Switch to the back, create 4 SPIDER CV Splitters. 3. Wire like this, using the Splitter inputs: [Subtractor LFO 1] > Spider CV 1 > Spider CV 2 > Spider CV 3 > Spider CV 4 4. You now have the Spider splitting the LFO signal into 13 available outputs. Wire them individually to Drum 1, 2, 3, gate inputs.

exactly. It will play as fast as you have the resolution set for.

@AcePincter - I love this sound, definately going to try this out. Does this mean that all the samples on Redrum will play through the one channel on the mixer? Thanks.
@AcePincter16 жыл бұрын
Make sure your redrum is set to "Run" when you playback, as well.
@AcePincter16 жыл бұрын
Cool! Maybe others will find this useful as well! Keeping it sync'd will give you good rhythms, unsync'ing it will be good for glitchy or grainy sounds. For non-percussive sounds, try using a RV7000 in Echo algorithm, with the echo time set to about 25ms, Dry/wet 50%. You can spice it up with the midi/CV gate mode enabled and a matrix wired to the back. This will give you a grainy glitch overdub for things like voice or synth.

Don't use remote override! Create a sequencer lane for the ReDrum and just play the ReDrum with your keyboard just like you would if you were recording beats with your keyboard. The c4 - c5 keys are used for exactly soloing. You can also do this with the 16:4 mixer.
@AcePincter16 жыл бұрын
3.0. If you can't see notes in your sequencer, you need to toggle between "arrange mode" and "edit mode" by using the button top-leftmost.

Reason does not record or receive live audio. However, you can record into Audacity or something and play back through a Reason Sampler. I record Guitar on the simple microphone jack on a laptop and I can make it sound great with the reason FX.

I think you have to program those pads to fall between C1 and A1. The Enigma software does this perhaps? As long as you get the pads to send those notes, it should trigger the drum with the velocity you hit with.

you might need 2 subtractors identical to each other, and detune the 2ndone slightly. Play them together in combinator!
@zebbedi14 жыл бұрын
@usedtohatecellphones That's why I said be more specific, some devices have resolution settings but that isn't tempo adjustment. The only way that I can think of would be to automate the tempo of the song as and when you need to.

@jamaicandjnado - Once you've copied the pattern to track, try clicking on the 'Enable Pattern Section' button, then the only thing playing will be the midi instead of the ReDrum machine.

please help me with my problem im teaching my self how to use reason 4 in a new beat i made i used redrum and dr rex loop player when i hit play the redrum plays from the beginning even though on the timeline thingy its supposed to come it at specific points, when i export as audio file same thing happens the redrum plays from the beginning and goes all the way through the track. wen it does get to the pattern i placed on the timeline it kind of gets distorted and has mch more bass.

Well, it's not entirely true. I mainly use the keyboard only for when I need odd or humanized timings. I'm a big "draw and repeat" type of composer. But when I started using the keys, I found I was able to immediately write better music, even without any real training. Simply because it's easier to trial a chord or phrase until it sounds right. Try "Bome's Mouse Keyboard" coupled with Maple Virtual midi. This will enable you to use your qwerty keyboard as a piano.

can you only playback the solo triggers while the redrum is enabled and in run mode?
