I think he correlates bodybuilding and strongman together. There is no doubt Larry is strong, but he is starting at square one with the weakest links in the chain. As Devon has said, "Strongmen are the most functionally strong men on the planet," so for men like Brian, there are fewer weak links, and those links are far beyond a bodybuilder.

That's what I was thinking. Shaw is obsessed with competition. It is obvious he did NOT want to stop strongman but time/age is undefeated. He doesn't have many other options with his build. Cant really transition to bodybuilding. Power lifting doesnt seem to interest him. All that's left, which ironically is the best fit, is arm wrestling which as Larratt mentioned, the age limit is much longer so-to-speak. It is the logical route to go for him.

Pradeep I want to correct you on the part about rehab. When you're a fresh armwrestler, you need rehab ALL the time. When I started, my arms were very soar, had multiple concerns with my elbow and wrist. Many suggest even going with a "rehab" type of training (with about 50 reps in many exercises every day if possible) for the first few months so your muscles and tendons can get used to armwrestling as the movements are not very natural for our body.

Also Brian Shaw is much older, more settled and a more steady and focused person in general.

Brian Shaw armwrestling is 100% clickbait. It's NOTHING but a quick cash cow. Don't be naive.

He didn’t really fully grasp the nuance of arm wrestling. His raw strength and minimal technique helped him beat some decent guys, but he seemed to never really grasp the details that would help him become elite.

Larry did too many things at once that’s why he got burnt out so quickly, Brian is all about strongman and runs a company he can dedicate more time and effort, and if he succeeds, he can bring more eyes to the sport of arm wrestling, along with his longtime sponsors like rogue, and possibly more strongman might be interested in the sport when they retire.

He only did it for the views. He's reached his peak in AW and couldn't hang with other guys who started around the same time as he did, so he's quitting and moving on to new things.

You can't compare Larry and Brian. Brian takes a completely different approach than Larry. Brian's business is established and his mental game is at a completely different level.

Any one who does calisthenics will understand the difference between usable muscle and toned muscle, Just because you have toned muscle does not mean you are stronger than every man you encounter, that is called bloated ego and there comes a day when the smaller man with usable muscle will humble you. He should not have given up the day job but I guess he was milking content.

There is a huge difference in Larry vs Brian. Larry looks for content and to have fun. He never wanted to be the best. Brian has a different mentality. He knows the work you have to put in to be the best and is willing to do it. The 2 are nothing alike.

i disagree in regards to brain shaw because he is not only one of the best strongmen ever but also one of the tallest and haviest; he has huge thick bones and also he is very smart. So of course there could be better armwrestlers in the strongmen community but if so they are probably training armwrestling for longer... (sry for my english)

The problem with Larry is that he's simultaneously very impressionable and not very smart. The reasons he gives for stopping gear and competitive strength sports before his physical prime are all invalid. There are lots of guys who compete, juice, have successful careers, and happy family lives. Most of them don't have the genetic physical gifts that Larry does. On the flip side, they're more than likely more cognitively gifted.
