Gotta love George! Good ole 'Murican name for a good ole 'Murican bred boy! And ya gotta love dad's pride, even though his focus is a bit off base.

This is a much rarer occurrence with cat owners. Dog owners will tell you all about their dog’s breed, the breed’s history, their dog’s pedigree, etc. When the clinic asks “What breed is your cat?” The average cat owner will say, “Who knows? I found this scrawny kitten with ringworm and conjunctivitis out behind the dumpster.” I realize there are some fancy cat breeds, and their owners may be obsessed with the breeds. But at least 95% of cat owners know their pet’s species (cat), and very little else about its background. I’ve had a lot of cats in my life, and every single one was a “domestic shorthair” (I.e., mongrel), except for a couple of “domestic longhairs” (I.e., mongrels).

In the UK the cat equivalent of mongrel is a moggie 😸

@@cherub2918I know the word “moggie,” but it’s rare in America. I used it at the vet clinic a couple of times, and I’m not sure they knew what I meant.

i know a few dedicated Maine Coon Cat owners- wont even look at a different breed. in my case mine are all "name of street we found them on" breed... although oddly we did get a probably purebred persion when the lady down the street said he was attacking her kid (translation her kid was bothering him)

I remember taking one of my cats to her vet for a routine visit about 15 years ago, the wait time just kept dragging on. One of the techs came out and told the room there had been a bunny emergency brought in and our patience was greatly appreciated. A short time later, a woman and a few kids came out carrying a box with a rabbit inside. The bunny was staring glassy eyed over the edge and both ears were wrapped in cotton and gauze, supported by a makeshift plastic V splint. The whole thing was taped to a cone. I'd never seen anything like that before! Looked like they'd been seen by Dr MacGyver.

I had a client ask me once if I had experience with dogs. I had been working with animal for 15 years at the time.

"But but but he was born in America!!"😅😅😅 Omg actually thought the owner didn't know the breed!

I would stick the receptionist with the job of getting the basic symptoms before you see the dog.

I once told an owner a random number of how many dogs of this special breed I had already treated to get past this conversation 😂.

Lab, eh? So, the vomiting is probably caused by eating something he should have then? Definitely a "prime specimen of his breed" in that case lol. I've had some odd breeds that the vet hadn't heard of before. And some you'd think the vet had heard of but hadn't (probably due to the rarity for wherein live rather then the rarity of the breed itself).
