Rebecca is so funny, quick learner and a hard worker. I know she can't always be in every video, but watching the chemistry you two have together is so entertaining and enjoyable to watch. I liked her comment about cutting wood.

Evan, you and Rebecca make a good team on the log splitter and the two of you made a big pile of firewood. One of those logs was curved and that would not have been a good saw log and both would make better firewood. Rebecca has a good sense of humor and takes everything in stride.

Instead of picking up those heavy rounds of the ground, Keep the rounds tight together and pickup 4 or 5 of them with the tractor, park tractor next to splitter, open grappler. No more bending over. Work smarter, use your tools, and most importantly, be safe. Love the videos, nice job Rebekah.

Hey, remember the wood you reluctantly saved from the barn? LOG BUCKIING STAND. Would a strong clamp pull the bent arm back into place, maybe with some torch heat? I always avoid hitting something with a sledge hammer as they shake the entire device. The carb could fall off next week. ha

Rebekah, Hickory wood is among the hardest wood to split. We did it with wedges and a splitting maul. Our son when he was growing up got his exercise splitting the Hickory that we burned. It looks like a safe operation to me. Keep up the videos, it makes me homesick for my younger days when we lived in the country about three miles Northeast of Prairietown, Illinois.

When Rebecca helps cut wood you can really go fast. Get a lot more done. You have had all kind of trees there on the farm.I love the cedar trees.

Evan, my small engine mechanic apologizes to his customers that he can't do better then to get their equipment to start on the first pull. I rent space on an Amish farm, and no electricity is available, so I use a generator I bought at the scrap yard. I took a gamble on it, and it powers most of my smaller tools. It's been good at starting on the first or second pull right along. My big generator isn't so easy. I need to clean the carb again and then I can run my welder. It's a Honda clone, so it's easy to work on. Yours should start a bit easier, but I'm not sure why it doesn't. Hopefully it will hold up well for you.

My dad had a log splitter that was the same design as yours. He bent the ears on his the same way. Get them bent back to original the best you can and we welded a piece of steel across the top to “bridge” the 2 sides together it will add a ton of strength

Howdy Rebekah and Evan, Rebekah is the woodcutters best little friend. I made something similar that I call my "bucking stick" using a computer hard drive magnet, a piece of fiberglass driveway marker that I found and a fender washer. Something to take care of the beetles, bugs and such in the logs.... a couple of mice. I'm jesting Have A Day! ;~)

I have a log splitter very similar to yours. Once I taught my wife how to operate it she keeps me busy cutting up more rounds for her to split and stack. Most of our wood is Oak and Hickory.

It is hard work for any first timer, after better organized, cut them into cheese block, much better in handling and lifting on a 25 ton splitter... You can get up to trailer load from a base stump 60 inch, good burning wood after 90 days summer drying... I liked your app it reminds me of what I went through starting out my firewood business 😅. I think you should make your own saw mill.... I did and found it wasn't that hard ! I first bought 5 saw mill blades and then built a bandsaw sawmill to fit the blades.... yes it took a few months to scrounge the material .... but you have a ranch (like I did at the time) and I used an old trailer as the base.... I first used an 8hp B&S because that is what I had on hand later switched to a 12hp and it cut faster ! there are hundreds of videos on how to build one from scratch and it would make a great winter project.... you can do it for a very cheap price and then cut your own lumber ! I found I really Loved the 3"x6" beams I made they were super strong and I used them as ridge beams on sheds.... and the shed cost nothing to build but nails ! ....the only things I had to buy were bearings for the blade guides some nuts and bolts , I had a single axle trailer I used the spindles and tires from for the wheels, the blade never came off once ! it cut pine at a slow walking pace and oak at about half that..... good lumber for free is the way to go buddy !!!!

#heyguyswelcomeback Splitting wood brings back memories of coming home on the school bus and finding a semi unloading 40 feet of 8 foot logs... Doesn't sound bad right? Um.. our lake lot was 62 wide by 106 deep... The house started 28 foot from the road... My Dad had zero idea what a truck load of wood looked like... It was an absolute riot!!! We had no place to park the 3 cars we owned because the driveway was full of logs...

Hickory is a great wood to smoke sausage, ham, and bacon with. Granted that Hickory is dry but mixed in with some green hardwood it would produce a good flavor for meat.

Evan, after you cut your rounds, switch your grapple to the bucket. Then load your rounds in your bucket and use your bucket to lift the rounds to the splitter.

You should make some kind of wire basket or box on each side of the splitter to catch them before they fall all the way to the ground. That will cut down on a lot of bending down to pick them up.

My wife is 62 and it shocks me when I see the size of logs she puts up on the log splitter. But last fall she went out and bought us a bigger splitter that you can stand the splitter vertical so you can split the big rounds upright. No more having to pick them up on the splitter... She bought a big Champion 30 ton splitter.... I'm not aloud to do any part of log cutting or splitting. They will let me sit on my walker and push the leaver to work the splitter if I'm having a good day. It really SUCKS being disabled.

You two work great together and that is what it's all about! Just a suggestion I have a splitter like yours and found it to be easier to use the forks on my tractor set them close to the width of the splitter plate and stand the logs on the forks. It keeps them straight and fairly easy to spin them on the steel.

Hi Evan and Rebecca. For your log splitter you can make a splitting head that drops on so it will split the blocks into multiple pieces each time. You could build the head Evan. Just make sure it’s decent thickness and weld her solid. Great videos.

Not so easy to make I think. The angles can be tricky if it is going to work properly and another thing - can the splitter handle the extra resistance.

Hello cut shorter pieces easier to handle. I have a splitfire wood spliter best on the market. When your putting on spliter pick the wood up from the middle just a suggestion. Have a great evening.

Hi Evan, in watching you and Rebecca today splitting wood in your latest video I wanted to suggest to you to take a foot long piece of PVC pipe and slip it over the existing handle on the log splitter that’s making it extremely easy to operate the handle back-and-forth. 1 inch pipe will work perfect and the leverage makes it so much easier when you’re splitting for long periods of time just a suggestion

Some charts have hickory as the densest hardwood(& best heat/weight) Along with its aromatic properties. For smoking you could take those splits down to kindling to just give you enough for 'smoke' over charcoal. Spring is on its way.

I had a couple large trees and I had to put the log splitter on Vertical and I found that it was a bigger strain on my back than actually lifting log onto the machine itself.

Maybe try cutting the rounds length wise with the chain saw to make them easier to manoeuvre

Try putting a full size log in your burner. The more you chop it up, it becomes more like kindling and burns faster. Just keep turning the log in your burner 👊 Great videos 📹 👌

The reason they split them is to dry the wood...unsplit rounds would take a really long time to dry.

We keep them indoors like a shed or a small building. Seen a cat perfectly preserved that had layed down to die 😳 in a shed full of wood 🪵 still looked alive.

Hickory tree was. Still wet the other logs stumps are going to get more dry and lighter.

On the log splitter take off the air cleaner and Pour in a tiny bit of (1/2 a bottle cap) in the carburetor. Put filter back on. 1-2 pulls it will pop. Not too much it will flood and or backfire.
