When it rains, the sound of the drops is made by hitting the ground. So if the filmmakers wanted to reproduce it correctly, most of the sound of the rain should come from the speakers placed on the... floor 😊 not in the ceiling 😉 The sound of rain coming from above should only be dominant when we are under an umbrella, a roof, a tree or surrounded by other high obstacles on which the drops hit.

Rain sounds coming from above is one complaint that I don't really get since most rain sound doesn't come from above, it comes from the sides where the water droplets are hitting stuff. It would be other atmospherics and other sound effects that would be coming from the height channels. I think the movie would've been better as a miniseries, and I think it could've added 10-15 mins to the beginning. I would've been ok with all the narration if there had been visuals going along to what Anthony Hopkins was saying, like Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. It could've been better, but it's far from being the worst Star Wars ripoff.

Taking simply at face value, I enjoyed rebel moon and I am looking forward to part two. I thought it was a fun, action adventure. I understand the criticism though. However, we do have to keep in mind that this was originally pitched as a rated R Star Wars story so they’re bound to be some similarities with that IP..

I watched this movie twice. The first time I watched it while visiting a friend, it was unbearably boring and I felt completely uninvolved in the plot. Last weekend I gave this production a second chance and the second time the impressions were much more positive and I had a great time. I think the large projection screen and the ability to turn up the sound volume more freely helps this movie more than it usually does.

Considering it has a budget of $166M split between 2 films, an $83M budget per movie is pretty low for a Sci-Fi Fantasy film with this much VFX

I thought the movie was decent enough. Watching on a 130" image with a full atmos setup and good subs makes a huge difference for this movie imo, though height channels were not used much. I believe this will turn out like BvS where the extended cut will be much better. I believe the extended version is something like 45 mins longer, so that could have a big impact on character development and flow.

Rebel Moon was great. Why do they care about the plot and "character development"? It's not a drama. You shouldn't be watching this type of movie for the plot. Go read a book if you want plot. If you want to see an audio/video masterpiece featuring the work of some of the world's best artists and craftspeople brought to life, then Rebel Moon delivers. Stop looking for Shawshank Redemption in a blockbuster-style movie! I watch movies for big music, big set pieces, big visual effects, and a super crispy picture. Again, Rebel Moon delivers in that regard. Can't wait for Part 2!!

@@therealshanelee How so?
@therealshanelee
@therealshanelee 5 ай бұрын
@@DarthHater100 it doesn't need to be a drama to make the viewer care for the characters. John Wick one of the biggest action movies in the past few years has big action, crispy picture, big music but also, guess what. Has character development which connects the characters to the audience and makes us want more. Hence the multiple sequels and prequel show. This movie brought none of that.
@DarthHater100
@DarthHater100 5 ай бұрын
@@therealshanelee I guess character development is nice in addition to what I watch movies for, but it only has a minor role in why I like a movie. Don't know why you think that is "horrible". John Wick. . . his dog gets killed and then he murders hundreds of people over 4 movies. Bunch of stuff about the Continental sprinkled in. Numerous villains that have no other character development besides what they look like. Whatever. I like dogs so I can emphasize, but I couldn't explain the plot if I tried, and I wouldn't describe Reeve's performance as "well developed character". For me, the plot played almost no role in me liking any of the John Wick movies. Does Gun-fu even need a plot? If you watch John Wick for the deep character development, that's cool, but for me it doesn't really matter. Just need enough plot and character to serve the sound and visuals and the artistry of the filmmakers. There's nothing horrible about valuing that over the writing/plot/characters. Most movies I like have a paper-thin plot and almost no character development. Don't remember movies like Mad Max Fury Road, or Pacific Rim, or Aquaman, or Valerian, or Transformers (or John Wick), having any character development or plot, and I love those movies because of all the reasons I've already said. It doesn't seem fair that you guys spent so much time focusing on the plot and character development, as if that even matters for a movie of this type. A visual spectacle should not be rated based on characters and plot. It delivered in spades on music, sound design, cinematography, visual effects, action, set pieces, costumes, creature design, world building etc, and to barely acknowledge any of that because the story wasn't well developed, is not fair for this type of movie. Especially a movie we've only gotten the first part of. As an analogy, some would argue that Rap/hip hop isn't even music, because it often lacks elements of harmony or complex musical arrangement. But if you judge a rap song on its harmony or instrumentation, you are judging on unfair criteria. Judge it on the beat, the bass, the lyrics, the social commentary, etc. and not on criteria meant for another type of music. I don't see an orchestra for its lyrics, and I don't listen to hip hop for its harmony. Some musicians can pull off both good lyrics and harmony, but there's still a lot to enjoy from music that masters only one of those two elements. Same is true with Rebel Moon.

I am not a Zack Snyder loyalist, but I do like him .I actually think we need SciFi filmmakers like him and Gareth Edwards, who are not quite at the Nolan ,Villeneuve level but are still bold enough to pursue a singular vision and they proven they can get it done.I really really wanted to like Rebel Moon, there was a good movie in there somewhere but this one missed the mark.

Stupid narrative’s, and the fact that this fellowship of the rings Odyssey was all about protecting and keeping safe a small grain farm. You seriously go across the universe, picking up all these (“warriors”) just to save a tiny farm…? Kora was basically Flic and Atticus was grasshopper Hopper. 😂

You paid zero attention to anything lol They literally spoon fed you the entire movie and told everything you said you didn’t know. 1) Kora tells the old man she is going to seek out a general in the army who’s well known that can help. 2) in the bar fight scene they told Kora she can find him in the colosseum. 3)Kai explains Nemisis is a wanted assassin and needs help. Nobel explains at the end that she is also a wanted rebel assassin 4) Gunner is constantly staring at kora. Alluding he likes her. Like all the time. Jesus I figured that out and 10 min watching 5) they literally told you several times and showed you flashbacks that the purpose of the “mother world” is brutal annihilation of the worlds. kora explains it in the flash back…Tarak explains it that they killed his entire family. Kai explains it at the end that’s his motivation for rating them out to Nobel is not wanting to repeat the same mistake I seriously don’t comprehend how you missed all this.

I think people are viewing this like a final film. But it’s Incomplete. Clearly It is. I hate this 2 part movie shit.
@therealshanelee
@therealshanelee 5 ай бұрын
@@jsun58 @jsun58 there's clearly more to it you can tell by how it's edited. That's why I was so put off by it. There's no meat to the story that made me feel connected to any of it. The characters were so memorable I totally forgot their names. If the directors cut fleshes out the story more and the characters I'll be on board. Otherwise this iteration is dull thin and forgettable.

The main problem with such films is the assumption that civilizations in other parts of the universe are developing according to the patterns of earthly history. With "empires", "dictatorships", "democracies", including the style of clothing characteristic of these societies. But military men in German-Soviet uniforms from a distant planet are even more cretinous than horned humanoid aliens. And who challenges them in this film? A girl with the weight of a lamb and the appearance of a schoolgirl (ex-elite soldier, "veteran"!🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️), eternal teenager Boutella, who will not be sold cigarettes either in Europe or in the USA. Sorry, but this all looks like banal money laundering at a freak show, not art.
