Hi there I have exactly the same car it’s been standing for 5 years now 😭 reason it’s because of the mechanics that were handling the car I have lost hope cause they knew I don’t know anything about cars which they wouldn’t lie to me this videos are giving me the power to seek for help regarding my car 🚘

I used the alternator from the 2.0 motor with the 6 rib belt, used a vr6 water pump pulley (not grooved) using a 6pk 1033 belt and its never let me down

The motor is looking good Jamie 👌 can't wait to see the once the motor is in and starting 💪 will you be fitting a lower strut brace on the golf? Heard alot of guys recommend it when fitting a bigger motor in the golfies just my food for thought but keep up the awesome videos 🙌

use the 1.4 alternator and belt

Howzit Bru use a jetta 3 none aircon water pump pulley and crank pulley also from a jetta and get a belt to fit

I’m enjoying the build series so far in spite of the “budget build” departure. If I may ask, what prompted you to venture down the rabbit hole of building an 8v as opposed to sourcing a 16v, VR6 or 1.8T ? I imagine the costs associated are fairly similar.

Thanks bud. Initially I wasn’t planning on doing all the modifications that I have done. Being a “budget build” at the time, it was a much cheaper option as opposed to those other options. I would have loved a vr6 or 16v. also wanted a NA build that’s why I didn’t opt for a 1.8t
