Nice job. The front bench on my 55 has same problem, now I'm ready!

Great video. My bench seat cushion has a springs problem.Lots of content on KZfaq, but many want you to buy a replacement foam cushion. Only $350!!! I appreciate the comment about replacing some spring wires with welding wires. What you lack in bells and whistles you more than make up for in pure American ingenuity. Well done! Thanks!

Thank you much for the information, what led me to this video, is my 1949 Packard. The seats are in poor shape, and this helps give me an outline of what to look forward too, Much appreciated.

Wow that was a lot of work. It turned out great and I'm sure it's a nice and comfortable fix.

Yes, I have been meaning to do it for a long time. The back seat looks and feels like no one has ever sat on it. Now the front seat looks and feels the same!

Thanks for posting this. I have a 69 Checker Marathon that has foam dust everywhere from the foam deteriorating. I got an estimate from an upholstery shop and they said it would be a couple hundred to fix. It didn't seem like it would be that hard to fix myself.

Great video, thanks. What stiffness of foam did you get?

Don't remember, but fairly firm as I'm a big guy

@@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop Ah ok, me too but also tall, so I might go with a semi-firm as my head is already pretty close to the ceiling lol

Working on old cars has plenty to do with woodworking, depending on the era of car, heh. Thankfully, the wood structure on mine is good.

This car has no wood, but pre-war Packards had plenty of it!

@@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop Yep, as soon as you turned to show the year of yours I saw what you meant. I have a 31 sedan, so yes, plenty of wood, heh.

When you said welding rod for list wire did you mean wire from a wire feed welder?
@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop
@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop 9 ай бұрын
I'm used habd held welding rod that you use with an oxy-acel torch. But any stiff hard thin rod will work.

The seat construction on your clipper is quite a bit different than my '53 Cavalier, mine is all coil springs.

Robin, I saw on the Packard forums you just did your seats. Did you take any video? I've got a 53 Cavalier as well and could really use your guidance.
