It's not about fear. Basically you look at it as the thing is basically dead you can't make it worse. You only worry about recapping costs spent on it but this car purchase is a tax write off for the business as an expense so at the very least they can deduct 575,000 from taxes.

@@rcp9ty True. If a person's not breathing, pretty much anything you do get them breathing again short of using a crowbar is OK, and you can deduct everything you used from your taxes, and claim damages for the harm you did to the dead body under the religion act. I just subscribed to your channel and I've been watching all the videos you've made . I just watched the video about you rebuilding and getting Eric his second love back in his life. Being 70 years old and having cancer twice in the last 40 years an now fighting cancer once more. This time it's terminal but I've managed to stick around with weekly treatments for over 6 years. The video of Eric's fiancee really hit home and I must admit had me in tears more then once. The end had me in tears of joy and I just wanted to tell you what a special man you are and this world could use more people like you. I don't usually stroke someone's ego but you sir deserve all my respect . You are one good person and I'm so glad I found your channel. The channel not only was very entertaining but it gave me hope that there are good people left in our world. God bless you and may he cover you with his grace. I'm looking forward to watch more of your videos. Keep up the good deeds and never change the type of person you are. You have a special gift that the good lord has given you. Imo one of the best things about Tavarish rebuilding these types of cars is that we get to see parts and engineering decisions that were made that otherwise we’d NEVER get to see unless we own or work on these types of cars!! Getting this deep dive into the engineering of the P1 is literally unparalleled!!! Some of the best (if not THE best) rebuilding videos/channels on the entire internet!!! I’ve always loved McLarens and LOVED the rebuild of the 675LT so to see all this on one of my dream cars (the P1) is just FANTASTIC!!!!

Definitely should tear the motor down to the short block and have a machine shop clean it while it is apart. All that stuff in the cylinders don’t play nice with piston rings. You’d also be able to clean the rods because from the look of the oil(water) that came out they probably could use a clean. Bare minimum you’ll have to pull the oil pan.

@denawiltsie4412
@denawiltsie4412 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing as well. My worry would be salt mixing with the water in the oil. The water would come from exhaust gasses leaking past the rings while the engine is running. Because of the small amount of water the solution would be very concentrated and very corrosive. Maybe you might get by with several oil changes in the first few hundred mile but why risk an engine that cost so much. I would just be more comfortable with every bit of salt out of that engine.

I've cleaned a lot of rotary presses (pressing pills from powder). You don't use compressed air to the very last, because you will spread powder (in this case sand) everywhere, and everything that previously was clean is now dirty. Including those previously pristine throttle bodies. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment instead. Then the compressed air.

Once you get to the point when you drain the oil mixed with water. Fill it with diesel to flush out the contamination in the engine. I do it when I change the oil on my vehicles. I drain the oil then replace the oil drain plug fill with diesel to the oil equivalent and run the engine for about 10 seconds turn off then drain out diesel and remove oil filter and drain. After draining replace drain plug and new oil filter and fill with oil. I know you are a long ways off from this but it cleans the engine internals very well. Man you have a huge set of stones for taking on this project. I will continue to watch your progress.

TAVARISH, this may sound odd, but I absolutely love when you post videos. It's mainly because I know you're STILL GETTING IT IN, and more importantly, you're okay. I like seeing you okay. Makes me feel like I should be okay as well

I first thought you would have no hope rebuilding this but after watching a lot of your other videos and how much you help others. I can see McLaren coming to the party just to get good publicity through you. And deep down they would want to see it on the road again

This is my first look at your channel. Every once in a long while you come across something on KZfaq that truly surprises you. This is one of those times. To spend so much money and time on what can turn out to be a total failure is incomprehensible to me. It is also a little fascinating. My only thought is that, before KZfaq, no one would ever attempt such a thing. But KZfaq makes this a potentially profitable effort. Your positive attitude over something that seems unsurmountable makes the video worth watching.

Love the video's. As someone who has worked with flooded vehicles and items before I can tell you that you need to get suds all over that vehicle and not just blow it/vacuum it off. Soap that baby up and rinse thoroughly! Then Blow it off. Especially considering the vehicle was in salt water. The moisture is evaporating leaving behind small sediment consisting of salt. You need to remove the salt before any further corrosion happens! If any moisture creeps into those nooks and cranny's that haven't been washed later down the road it will allow the salt to re-saturate and move around again.

We had a major flood back in '96. My dirt bikes were completely under water. After the flood my first instinct was to drain the water in them. My father in law said, don't drain them until your ready to start them. They won't rust as long as the engines are full of water. Best advice ever. Had I drained them and let them set they would have rusted solid. When I had time, I drained them and refilled them with oil and started and ran them until the heat dried them out.

I like to imagine someone 100 years in the future acquiring parts from three P1s and not knowing what to do with them until they stumble across your videos. With the help of your videos they are able to combine the parts into one working P1, which they then drive to a museum. IN SPACE! Because it's 100 years in the future.

If I were the CEO of McLaren, I'd be in touch with you trying to help out get parts at discount and any engineering assistance possible. I'm really fascinated at this level of failure analysis and watched your progress on the 675S(?). It's so important for younger people (I'm in my advanced years-way more road behind than ahead) to develop these skills to bring a masterpiece like this back to life after such a devastating event. I'll be following along and keeping my fingers and toes crossed you'll be able to pull this off. 🍻

I don't think they like people actually doing this stuff. They'd rather just have rich people get their stuff fixed for rich prices at authorized garages. People watching this are not the customers they aim for.

@@MumrikDK It's a liability issue for them. If it looks like they're endorsing Tavarishs' work and approach, the brand becomes liable for mistakes amateurs make while working on their cars and then operating them in race conditions. If they stay hands off, as they and other manufacturers do, they can allow this to go on - but not be directly responsible for anything bad happening, as the manufacturer tried at every turn to stop them. If one of these repairs fails at some point, and a newspaper article is written, what will their PR department want that article to say? "CEO of McLaren helps KZfaqr rebuild car...watch as it catches fire!" or "KZfaqr rebuilds flooded salvage McLaren...watch as it catches fire" In the second, McLaren has nothing to do with it, and actively tried to prevent him from doing it. If he succeeds in repairing it, that's great for McLaren anyway, with basically none of the added risk that something bad happens.
