My shed door broke so I took it down. Since it's been open to the elements for the better part of a year now, I figured it was time to put up a new door.

Hey, thanks for the great idea! I couldnt figure put how to fix the rusty/dented doors and no replacements could be found. Wood door is perfect!

It's really not too complicated of a project. I would recommend having another person there for the 2nd set of hands though.

Thank you! I'm kinda kicking myself now, but a couple weeks ago I did some cubby's on the back of the door and built a work surface inside that I didn't record. Other than the couple pics on my Instagram but yeah...Oh well.

when your ply door gets wet, its will buckle, bend and delaminate, are you treating it?

Pressure treated plywood. It indeed got wet, but did not buckle, bend or delaminate the entire time it was up. My wife painted it 4 years after I put it up, and then we replaced the entire shed for something bigger 2 years after that.

It’s been up 3-4 years. It’s fine. Also did the same thing on another shed 6 years ago. It’s also fine. Yes it’s wood, it will degrade and need to be replaced eventually. At that point I’ll probably just replace the shed if I haven’t already.

Nice build. Don't forget. Building a hybrid metal door..It has a 2x3 frame and top and bottom pins rather than hinges. if that doesn't work..Ill get to go to the hardware store or maybe I'll need a new power tool. Hmmmm.

Have you seen the new Hart Tools selection at Wal Mart? I just got a 16 x 24 right angle ruler. It was about 7 dollars. it is genuine aluminum plastic coated quality.

I've actually bought some pretty cool tools at dollar tree. Also some of their tools are a little subpar. With a little forethought you can take their yellow 2 foot levels and use for a long time.The bubble aparratus falls out. Count on it. It happened twice. I like the level..super glue as soon as you get it.

The. dollar sand paper pack is very thin. Better than nothing. Don't get it wet.

What are the materials used?

Treated 2x6, And treated 3/4” plywood. As well as screws, carriage bolts, and hinges.

What was the total cost of parts and materials?

Somewhere around $100 I believe. 1 3/4 sheet of PT plywood 1 8’ PT 2x6 1 pack of gate hinges 1 gate latch 2 6” carriage bolts with washers/lock washers and nuts.

@@kickasbutterfly 4x8’. It was a 5’ high, roughly 3’ wide doorway.
