There is absolutely no need for those concrete blocks to be different in size, the forms they use are standard. All it means is that they haven't prepared the forms properly, they should be cleaned after each use and re oiled so the concrete doesn't stick. Like you say it's a shame, your trying to make something look nice for the customer. You buy this product as its easy to use, no concrete foundations and no cement work. Rant over! 🤗 Really nice job, like you say you won't know if the leak is fixed until it rains. Apart from putting the building up on stilts or building a moat, don't think there is anything you could do.

Those blocks are probably made mostly from the left over mud that comes back to the plant in the mixers . That is how we would make our blocks back in the day ! Nice job looks better already !! 🤔👍👍👍👍

Those big cubes allow for drainage better than a slab wall I think. That looks nice.

Mike turned out better then I thought the block gap’s actually pretty good for scrap leftover concrete the new thing around here they face them with brick or lick ‘em and stick ‘em stone or they already have the pattern and the faux paint them

Nice job on the retaining wall. I know all to well when something is not square it makes your job harder. Try laying up a lead on a foundation when the corner blocks aren’t square it’s a pain in the back side!

Now that turned out so much nicer than I thought it would I knew you both were good, but after watching for quite some time, I now believe you are way better than I thought, thanks Mike and Matt, and Matt when moving that size stone around try a tar rake, just a one footer head, you might find it easier than the spade, I know, I know you both can never find the right tools and more than likely have tons of them, so Mike maybe a bit better organisation this year.

Feathering that stoning made that job look from a 6 all the way up to a 10 !! Can hardly wait to see what the final job is gonna look like with the concrete cap and ramp

Just a thought… I’m curious as to why the home owners didn’t open out the area to the left of the doorway (facing away from the house) to make a very useful patio / work area, I know that it would have involved moving one dirt, but boy it would look so much nicer than what is now there… Great job there boys..

That’s such an improvement to the house and the foundations should stay dry especially now the down spouts and ground water are in separate pipes going to the ditch ! The ramp is going to be lovely when concreted and those blocks really are versatile !

Even with the extra labor time shimming, the blocks still have to be reasonable compared to other options and I think they look fine. Slap a veneer on and totally top shelf for even the nicest new homes.

Mike have you ever used a tilt coupler on a skid steer? I highly recommend one. I don’t know how I went so long without one. Made grading with the skid steer so much better. Best part is there not real expensive. Dirt boss is who got me to get one.
