Thanks for Your support and Love.
Overall Caterpillar is the unofficial king of diesel engines and it deserves its place as number 3 on the best diesel engine list. Why We Hate It: It's not that we hate the CAT 3116 it's that we hate the fact that it's hard to work on.
CAT manufactured commercial truck diesel engines for many years but exited the business back in 2010. Their manufacturing still exists today, except they are done for various off-highway equipment and machines.
Caterpillar has several divisions that consume Perkins engines, the main two being Caterpillar Excavators and Caterpillar Diesel Generators through their subsidiary, F G Wilson. Perkins also has a subsidiary named Perkins Marine, which produces small engines for marine propulsion.
Rebuilding Giant Caterpillar 950E Wheel Loader Engine | Complete Process of Engine Repairing
In terms of fuel efficiency, Cummins' engines are 6% better than Caterpillar . That's not the only area where CMI's coming out on top. It's taking share from CAT in other heavy-duty engines as well. Cummins is taking share from all its competitors, actually, as it's now the largest supplier to Paccar.
Caterpillar's main competitors are Komatsu, Volvo CE, SANY, XCNG, and John Deere. Other competitors include JCB, Manitou Group, Terex Corporation, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., Liebherr-International AG, and SDLG.
C15 Cat - the C15 and C16 Caterpillar diesel engines were workhorses. They were also reliable, not bad fuel economy and had great warranties. C16 Cat. 60 Series Detroit - These Detroit engines are the only 'newer' diesel engine in the best semi truck engines. The 7.3L Power stroke is still considered one of the most reliable diesel engines ever made. It also has plenty of power for most applications, with 500 pound-feet of torque and 235 horsepower. It was built for the long haul, too with an air-to-air intercooler, oil-based fueling, and durable internal hard parts.

I’ve seen cleaner building sites compared to this area, how they work like this is unbelievable, surely a quick jet wash of the engine could have been done before the strip down ,and as for working on the floor this is asking for problems when they re assembly the motor.

You people work hard and work with the tools that you have and the conditions that you work in aren't the best. But could you at least wear gloves when using solvents to clean the parts? Most of the harmful chemicals in the solvents (mineral spirits, diesel fuel, paint thinner or even gasoline) are absorbed through the skin and are harmful to the body. This way you will live a longer life to pass your knowledge down to others. When I was younger we never wore gloves when using parts cleaning solvents, safety glasses when grinding or cutting or even a dust mask when doing brakes (we were taught to blow off the brake dust off of the brakes using an air hose) many of my co-workers never lived to reach a very old age. If only we taken the time to protect ourselves from the unseen dangers many of them would still be here today.

What a joke this so called rebuild is. Not 1 single bolt was torqued Didnt see them measure any of the journals. No assembly lube. Didn't check con rods . Didn't check thrust run out. Probably didn't space rings correctly. Probably used the cheapest parts they could get from China. I guarantee this motor won't last long before it spins a bearing. Rods start knocking. Or blow the head gasket. There is no way I would pay for this job. They could have atleast spent $40 for a Chinese torque wrench that would have been better than AWWW THATS TIGHT ENOUGH MENTALITY. I knew better when I was a teenager. And they are charging for this. SHAMEFUL
