Be careful Ernest. You may not feel that stuff in your back right now, but when you hit 50+ you start regretting some of your life choices! Ask me how I know. LOL I understand you have to do what is necessary, just stay safe, and prayers for good news from the Doctor!

absolutely, that strawberry milkshake he drained out of it the last time was probably coolant getting in the tranny from the radiator. Maybe the change in radiators was the fix for both issues and probably why the radiator was leaking.

As much as i want to say junk the car, at this point you cant let it win. Fix it up and drive it til the wheels fall off 🤘 and when they finally do, buy your wife something AWESOME!!!

I'd say fix it and get it in running condition. Then sell it to some other sucker that thinks the only good cars are Hondas and Toyotas (even when they are completely worn out). then buy the wife a more reliable car with the sales proceeds.

In my Holden Commodore the thread for the brake caliper mounting bolt is in the steering knuckle itself so when it half stripped out I ordered an M12×1.5mm Helicoil thread repair kit, drilled & tapped the old thread out then I fitted the helicoil then I fitted a used OEM Bolt which I bought from an Auto wrecker.for $2 AUD !

Damn! I saw this video late and missed out on the discount code for the smart watch. I really like these watches, they look really nice. I wish I would of gotten into fixing cars long ago when I was younger. I just started doing my own small jobs at home a few years ago like breaks, oil, tune-ups, but you do some bigger jobs that I would not even try to do myself. I wish I had the time to maybe learn along side someone but with a fulltime job and a family there is not much free time....

Ernest, I believe the crv of that generation uses OEM DW-1 honda transmission fluid, Ive tried other dw1 equivalent aftermarket brands and the trans still slips, after going Honda oem, perfect buttery smooth! Just my take man! Those crv’s will last forever!
@HarleySLA
@HarleySLA 3 ай бұрын
The CVTs have their own fluid that they require. It's the 4 speed automatics that take the DW-1. Older CVTs take the original formula and newer ones take CVT2 fluid.

@HarleySLA
@HarleySLA 3 ай бұрын
Should be using DW-1. Which is the factory fluid. You could use Dex in a pinch, but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's an emergency. Id also have it flushed afterwards or if it's leaking then keep a couple bottles of DW-1 with you. Hope that helps 👍 Side note for anyone with a CVT, those do not take DW-1, they have their own specialized CVT fluid.

Time to bite the bullet, and pick up a used, cheap minivan (probably a Mopar) for the Wife. Put a BYU sticker on back. Old Hondas have weak transmissions.
@charlesphilhower1452
@charlesphilhower1452 5 ай бұрын
Mopar and minivans, you are asking for problems. Lee Iocca may have used them and the K cars out of bankruptcy and be the only car company to date to pay back the government nail out, but that does not translate in to making good vehicles. This is why they tend to be one of the lowest priced vehicles on the used car lot.

Ill keep coming back and saying it. BUY TOYOTA. As a 20 year mechanic, i wont even take any modern ford jobs. But my dailys, 1987 4runner sr5 turbo, never stops. Just bought a 05 prius with 288k. ZERO LEAKS OR SIGNS OF THEM. NO ENGINE CODES. Also when its time to work on your toyota. Its easy and makes sense! Proper good engineers.

Problem is he is falling into the trap of thinking it's worth it to continually fix an old, high mileage Honda, and that it will not be an endless money / time pit. Hondas and Toyota break and wear out too! And the old worn out ones are over-hyped!

Spending money when you’re doing the repair yourself is much cheaper , and you could run into the same issues if you bought a different car. Sometimes it’s cheaper to repair the car you have by fixing it yourself than to replace it.
