Once again, you've inspired me too do something constructive. I've had a '68 Bassman head in my closet for years; picked it up for a song after someone had butchered it and burned up the PT. I'd procrastinated because I was unsure how to restore it to vintage specs, and now I've had a satori that I need only rejuvenate it into the best amp that I can, because even that incarnation is preferable to its current, non-functioning state...thanks...

Love how you build with the Amp Tech in mind, not only will it save time on repairs, it also saves the owner money. Most business men don't think like that anymore, hat's off to you Lyle, your quite inspiring. I'm just getting into this stuff and you've set the benchmark on how one should strive to be. looking forward to future video's.

Lyle you never you fail to impress with neatness. Maybe sometime you could do a high speed complete build. You could play your guitar in the background.

This would be a nice kit you could sell. You'd have to sell it for enough to be worth your while to mess with. And offer no support, just some pictures and a youtube video. For advanced users only. :)

Your videos, once again, give great insight. I have loved all kinds of shedders! Black and blonde. I have a nightmare 55’ GA45 with caps on the bottoms side of the board. Why…if any good reason exists…would they have done it that way? Board crowding? Paying no mind to servicing as Rock n’ roll was a passing phase I guess. I’m convinced that design had blasted guitars in mind. Maybe not. A built in early fuzzy sound as a consequence. An extra couple of hours charge when maintenance or flat out…I won’t work on that. Fenders were light years ahead in that dept. A pre-internet gem of wisdom I was late to learn. Still love the bloom of the grind at saturation though at house levels.

Gibson loved to populate both dates of the boards. Because evil.

Can you talk about the different available pot types and tapers in a video? I think there is WAY more to the options than most of us mortals understand.

Hey Lyle . Again , you are inspiring and showing us how to do better work , and it is much appreciated . Btw , do you get anxiety when you are cutting transformer wires etc. to a sensible short length . . . I do . Haha .

What is the average cost to have something like this done to a 65 reissue Deluxe Reverb?

Nice work. Did you consider improving the mechanical stability of the radial power supply caps by glue or using tie wraps and holes in the board to secure them? Maybe not required, but it would add some vibration resistance.

I was wondering if you were going to do any mods while you were in there. Ceramic caps are essential to the “Blackface” sound imo. I’m glad you left them in there in the right spots. It’s just not the “Blackface” sound without them.

I know it really doesn't matter but I don't like boards this color. I prefer dark brown boards or black boards. This board looks cheap even if its not. Lol I know it might sound ridiculous but that's what I like. I hate green boards...lol

As a practical matter, it's easier to see dirt, burns, or contaminants on a board this color. The player will probably never see it and it's easier on any tech who needs to work on it. My baseman clone has a black board and I wish I'd rethought it at the time.
