Hey Corp-I’m 76 years old. Used to do all this stuff back 55 years ago. Ya got me off the porch and back in the woods. For your entertainment: had to sit down for 15 minutes after cutting down a six inch diameter dead pine. Getting it back after a few months now. Hell-you might have saved my life and/or bought a few more enjoyable years of life! Thanks brother of different wars. Thinking of starting up a channel for older peeps! Heh heh.

It was in my feed. I watched it all the way through. My running buddies when I was a kid, and I use to make these "forts" all of the time, and these video's really bring back a lot of memories. At the time we were doing this, our fathers were in Vietnam, and we lived in a trailer park just outside of Fort Benning. Most of our fathers were infantrymen. My father was prior infantry before he went to OCS and then flight school. I enjoy your vids probably from a different place than most people watching them. They are relevant today as any other time in our history. The knowledge to engineer our survival at a primal level will always be relevant.

Yeah, it’s true that it is wasting energy to perfectly cut every single piece of wood, it’s true that he takes some heavy to carry food.... but yet again it’s not survival it’s getting crafty and comfy in the woods. Nobody will enjoy watching sleeping in a basic dirty shelter which he can certainly make, and nobody will enjoy watching him eating a can of tuna and crackers. UNLESS he does a survival challenge with Fowler fir example. That would be cool.

I think people get lost in understanding that the work Corporal puts in is to give us ideas and how-to on building longer term survival structures. And bacon, always bacon.
@MrSheckstr
@MrSheckstr 3 жыл бұрын
A lot of what he is showing is the “long term” survival shelter variety. You build a shelter that will protect you for hours, in order to build the shelter that will protect you for days, in order to build the shelter that will protect you for weeks. He doesn’t bother with tips on foraging, gathering living off the land, and that’s simply because those are skills you can’t teaching in just a few minutes and tips that will only apply to a very narrow region. As far as the cooking show he puts on, that’s not a “survivals” lesson, but it is a little lesson on how to make some awesome and flavorful protein and carb bombs that will fill your stomach, warm you up from the inside, using a minimum of equipment and processed foods. Overall it’s a hell of a lot more informative that seeing the 279th KZfaq video of someone making a one pole tarp pyramid and warming up vacuum packed soybean porridge for supper

I live in WV so you get about 3 inches of dirt, followed by a foot of clay with rocks and then hit a coal seam, which if you didn’t know will immediately start seeping out moisture and water after you break the hard crust layer, and usually end up with a swampy mess by the end of the day and good luck ever trying to fix the issue, once it gets loose you’ll never be able to fix it, I’ve had to dig several ditches on my property just to keep the water out of my yard and from under my house, pros are it’s very clean, cold water that you can drink

This is something the Norse did for hundreds if not thousands of year as well as countless other cultures and peoples. I love this style of building.

The Norse were not around for thousands of years. If you were thinking of the Viking peoples it was barely 600.

You could have students or tourist who come spend the night in your shelters like a b&b for a fee.

ok master Kelly. I live in Brazil and I've been watching almost exclusively your videos since I found them on you tub. I like and practice bushcraft with some regularity but I have to admit that you are a lot higher in shelter building techniques. I don't know what other people who watch you think about your techniques but to me you are the best I've ever seen. I'm not used to commenting on videos, but in your case, I felt something needed to be said. My most sincere congratulations for the excellence both in content and the quality of what it proposes to teach. Please don't ever stop as you will always have me as a spectator. A big hug from Brazil. Sandro Domanski.

I love how you come out here with an idea and end up with a masterpiece. When I used to get ready to watch Naruto I would make ramen noodle soup now I'm finding myself making BLTs cuz you can't have corporals corner without bacon LOL

If you go back to hammock camping, would be nice to see you make a set of tripods as a hammock stand, for when you have plenty of trees, but need to move further away from the widowmakers.

I'm very impressed by your knowledge and skills, and I'm mindboggled by people who find fault. I was a sailor not a marine, but I suspect we have about the same reaction: F'em! I love your sense of humor too. My favorite was the reason you left your previous home--all those damn vampires. God bless you and your son.

Camping/surviving is hard work! Anyone that says different is wrong. Filming while you are doing it, is even more hard work. Give these men credit and stop leaving harsh comments unless you are out doing it yourselves. Hat's off to you Corporal. Love your videos. Thank you.

I really don't think people realize the skill and constant innovation it takes to keep building different shelters every week. Most people wouldn't even be able to properly build a lean-to shelter.
