RECAST | Gimmicks played by Multiple Wrestlers!
Recasting is a thing which sometimes has to take place in the world of film. And this has been evident in the likes of Mark Ruffalo taking Edward Norton’s place as The Hulk in the MCU, Michael Gambon picking up the role of Dumbledore in Harry Potter, or James Bond changing his face every ten years or so. Obviously then, it should come as little surprise that wrestling is the same in this respect as on multiple occasions gimmicks have had to be portrayed by two or more people. But what are the biggest examples of this in wrestling history? Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to be looking at today.

I got a few ideas for your next videos, future Hall of famers like the Miz, Chris Jericho, and Daniel Bryan. The other is wrestlers who were great at playing the face and heel like Edge, the undertaker, Daniel Bryan, and HHH
@berranari1
@berranari1 7 ай бұрын
Nearly every wrestler plays the face and the heel. Only a few like Steamboat and Sammartino were full time good guys. Even Piper was a face at one time. Someone like Greg the Hammer Valentine is interesting because he was almost always a heel. Snuka was a heel that was turned face because of the positive response he was getting from the audience. Hogan was a heel.
@berranari1
@berranari1 7 ай бұрын
HHH started as a heel, Daniel Bryan started as a face. 90% of wrestlers do both. Even Rey Mysterio was a heel at one point in WCW. HBK had the best heel turn.

Here are a couple more examples: 1. La Parka. The character was played by Jesus Escoboda, Adolfo Tapia, and of course... Diamond Dallas Page (LOL!) 2. The KISS Demon. Brian Adams, best known as Crush, originally donned the makeup and costume before being replaced by Dale Torborg.

So let me get this straight, the original Sin Cara in WWE, was replaced by somebody else and then he beat the fake Sin Cara in a match to keep the gimmick. Then the fake Sin Cara went unmasked for a while, but the real Sin Cara left the company and got replaced with the fake one that already lost the gimmick to the real one ? Yeah, that's confusing.

Blue Blazer was played by multiple guys too. Obviously Owen Hart was the main one but Jeff Jarrett did it a few times as well as Koko B. Ware. There was at least one more guy as the Blazer, Owen Hart, and Jeff Jarrett all appeared together on an episode of Raw and it obviously wasnt Koko B. Ware this time either. I believe if Owen Hart didn't die in that outfit that this could have been one of those recurring gimmicks like Doink or Los Conquistadores.
@kurtvanderbogarde8402
@kurtvanderbogarde8402 7 ай бұрын
Owen was scheduled to win that IC belt. Blazers who were clearly Koko and Jarrett were just a short term decoy after Owen claimed he had left the business. By the time of Owen's death, the gimmick had turned a corner and was about to be portrayed as a comedy heel fallible "superhero".

Barry Windham disguised himself as Sting at 1990 Halloween Havoc to try and help Sid Vicious. There was also many other fake Stings, including Sting himself. He once came down to ringside wearing a Crow Sting mask. Another multiple performer gimmick was Ciclope. Dean Malenko dressed as him to enter a win a Cruiserweight Battle Royal to get a shot as Chris Jericho.

I was referring to the late 90's Vince Russo booked WCW. The time you are referring to, while spotty, did have good points, as you have pointed out. I do feel that Sting's first championship reign was poorly booked.

@kurtvanderbogarde8402 7 ай бұрын
@@mwchesser A common problem with both ex Blade Runners' 1990-1991 World title reigns was a lack of credibly built up challengers. In Warrior's case he should have been given Earthquake, the only hot WWF heel at the time, fresh from having "injured" Hogan, instead of the capable but stone cold Rick >Rude, fresh from humiliation by Roddy Piper. In Sting's case he needed a longer run of return matches with Flair, something like what Hogan got in 1994. Even so, Sting would have been a better champ than Flair in 1991, with Flair's weak flukey looking title win off the back of humiliation at Starrcade 90. Sting would certainly have made a more believable American hero against Tatsumi Fujinami and he could have lost to Lex at GAB '91 when Harley Race and Mr Hughes interfered to help Luger turn heel and win the title at the end of a babyface match.

“Razor & Diesel” in the WWE were the start of Jim Ross’ heel character that didn’t happen but in USWA was the beginning of the “Mr McMahon” character and sadly was a well thought out storyline and feud that few got to see outside of Memphis where “Razor” was being forced against his will to play the character and Diesel was a lackey for McMahon in charge of enforcing McMahons characters on him.

We are talking like maybe a hundred or so in attendance but I don’t know if it was the original or not but I like to think that it was it could have been even earlier than that. I just know me and my cousin were very young at the time and we did get a reaction out of him specifically calling us punk kids as we heckled him. My dad worked at the armory and we helped setup the chairs and I will say this I did see one of the chairs used as a weapon during one of the matches I know for a fact that chair was the real deal. I know Nailz and Road Warrior Hawk were also around that time in local matches as my dad meet them a few times. They were the real deal.
