Dil dhadakne do is such an underrated movie I cannot even begin..... people think it's boring and long but the message it gives is not talked about! The hypocratic and double faced people shown here, hits directly on the heart. my extended relatives are actually like this and I feel these emotions that are shown in the movie. It shows the strength, problems, issues of a family and also the sad truth of most marriages...... hope it gets the fame it deserves🤞

Exactly. I feel like many people missed the point of the film by saying they couldn't connect with it due to the portrayal of rich families. But Dil Dhadakne Do shows us that money can't buy happiness and a regressive mindset still exists, where people are expected to stay in toxic and unhappy marriages.

The common stereotype is that a baby can solve every issue in the marriage...... Reality - no, a child cannot solve the issues in marriage because if two people r not compatible with each other then wt a child can do in this? The child will also develop a negative mindset toward marriage and relationships because of his/her parent's toxic marriage so in short a toxic marriage will destroy the mindset of a new life also...

Funny, heartfelt and just brilliantly directed/acted, it's a constant rewatch gem for me. Yeah, I truly hope that if I ever got married, we don't end up like some of the couples in the movie, but damn is it fun to watch the drama unfold. Excellent content as usual, Swaddle Team.

It really is a good movie something i watch when I'm feeling low for all the patriarchal stuff i find comfort in this movie It tells it's ok to fall in love It's ok to get a divorce if your unhappy It's ok talk out our problems It's not ok to bring a child into a marriage to make the marriage work It's not ok to 'allow' women to work It's not ok to only consider a son as a heir They might actually have different ambitions too It's not their duty to run to his father's company just cuz he is a man It's not ok to do things we don't want to do because of social pressure As said in the movie ppl will talk no matter what you do the talking will never stop

Well there are too many examples around me of these kind of marriages ..where women have no choice but to tolerate ..and it is easy to say why not just break such marriages but it's harder ...way harder than we think .. people will kill that women blaming her for ruining her family and making their kids lives miserable .. obviously kids suffer in these kind of marriages but when those kids grow -up watching all this ..they are already ruined .. it's a viscous cycle ...my Massi is in such a bad place in her marriage now but she can't divorce her husband .. Even though she is financially independent .. even her own parents won't support her ..they always ask her to stay quiet for her kids and family .but I see their kids are suffering as much as she is ...she is the one who provides for her family ..her husband is always spending without thinking .. Even if he has to take loans to maintain his life style ...well he just bought a new car and guess who is going to pay for car loan ?? ...she is the one paying those loans always...when I see her suffering and pretending in front of this world to be happy ... it's gonna be harder for me to believe in marriage in future too ..I have him abusing her verbally ..I know he beats her too but she is still trying to save this so called marriage ...🙄 I used to ask my parents why she is so weak ?? Why can't she just leave him ..now I am all grown up and I can see it's almost impossible for her to come out of this hell ....

The problem with movies such as Dil dhadakne do and many more like this is the Indian audience don't have the taste to appreciate this kind of stuff. Let me type some points to add insight :- 1) TV audience. We think that since OTT became so popular in India that people nowadays don't watch TV the truth is that statistically since the introduction of OTT there has been a significant rise in TV watchers. There is majority of Indian audience that is just out of touch and still unfamiliar with Internet entertainment and culture. 2) Indian audience and their family dynamics. Movies that are played in theaters or so called Cinema is basically a more or less special ocassion in most middle class or lower class families. Okay let's be honest watching movies is expensive in cinemas and when people go for movies they also have to pay for food and stuff. Families in India don't really find time to spend watching movies and when they do, the Indian families wish to watch movies that are slapstick comedies in the name of entertainment. So basically a majority of our audience watches movies with families and they prefer (especially elders) to watch slapstick comedies or basically what we call as cringe. Yk family entertainment. 3) A majority Indian youth audience including myself and some of my friends we grew up watching only western entertainment. The classic American TVs and movies. We are the type to watch Zack and Cody over Karan and Kabir because we have subconsciously since childhood formed a comfortable bond with the western culture. For us what the Indian industry is creating now is something we have enjoyed and critized years ago so basically Indian industry lags behind our taste. Even when Indian industries do create something worth watching they add masala and those try hard jokes and trying to tell instead of showing yeah it makes us just downright bad for us. 4) A majority of our audience is not ready to talk about issues such as divorces, miscarriages, childless couple dynamics, toxic couple dynamics, leaving behind and choosing growth. An audience that appreciates Devdas do you expect them to watch movies where protagonist is leaving behind toxicity and moving on? 5). Actresses like Kiara and Disha are a proof that actresses in Indian movie are nothing but eye candies because Radhe or Kabir Singh it is always about the hero or the male lead even if it is toxic because all females do is exists and be bimbos. Thanks to these mainstream celebs feminism is something they will never portray right in the movies for when they try to do something feministic they end up making shizz like Veere Do Wedding. 6) A less talked about Indian audience dynamic is tharki launde basically horny guys who watch movies to idolise a hero who drinks and smokes and beats goons and has an attitude with a screwed family antic. And the one who dances in Item songs with an eye lolli. 7) a new trend for people due to OTT is to only watch movies with tons of negative elements like sex, drugs, alcohol and crimes. Lots of this. Like yeah normalise all these because they happen but why do every Ott platform has to churn out these themes. And youngsters watchs these because that is what happens when you are raised in conservative society they think to normalise these themes is to only watch these themes and talk about them. Wow toxic media and equally toxic audience . Basically Progressive Content being adapted according to a regressive audience. Lmao not gonna work. A movie is a good way to portray something but to accept an issue and talk about it, you actually have to talk about it. I have no hopes for the Indian audience

In this whole movie just one thing bugged me that how could someone forgive their cheating partners. I mean cheating and extra martial affairs is something which doesn't deserve any forgiveness. Wheather it's men or women once you broke the trust there is no go back but still at the end Neelam forgive Kamal and he too act like he didn't cheat his wife for 30 yrs. How pathetic our society is. Just swap the roles and imagine the situation. Wht if it's the women who cheated on her husband for 30 yrs. Will she be forgivable . Will she get 2nd chance. Then why men always get away with this shit. It always bug me like it's OK to broke our trust and play with it. Even this movie was conveying an great message and talking about the social norms but the end shouldn't be like this. Like Neelam again accepted her husband with open arms like he didn't do anything. She forgive him just like that. This is absurd for me that how he easily he gets away with it. when Priyanka have to fight a war with her own parents for getting divorce from an unhappy marriege but Anil Kapoor get away with his deeds just like that.

@@PlintToParamountt swaddle had choose this movie becoz everything in this movie is breaking the social norms which has been there in bollywood for centuries. Everything we have been seeing in bollywood this movie has stand against it but the end was again same like cheating is ok betraying is ok and the reality is it is not OK. That's why I said whether it's men or women cheating and betraying your partner is something which is unforgivable but even after knowing their partners deeds if still they are giving them second chances then I don't know what it is. I mean lack of self respect or their desperation or most of the time women's specifically in Our country they don't have anywhere to go like the dialogue in this movie. Where everything was so great about this movie they just slide the main point of this movie that cheating and betraying is not ok and for that getting divorce and living your life according to your wish is not wrong. That's should be shown in this movie like at the end Neelam should end up her relation with Kamal. If it's not a movie which stand against the social norms and high rooted patriarchy. And if swaddle haven't choose this movie for discussion then I don't give damn about it. But they should give correct examples. It's like The whole movie was on one side and the relation of Kamal and Neelam is on another side. I don't know if it's me or anyone else. Cheating, betraying and abusing your patners these are some hineous crimes infact as you say these are sins but when I see people making it so casual like kya hi fark padta hai types. It boiles my blood.

@@PlintToParamountt yeah I totally agree with it. Most of the time specially women's forgive them or just try to live with it becoz of their kids and also becoz of financial issues. But I point out this thing particularly about this movie that they shouldn't had show it like it's OK to be cheated becoz at the end you are an Indian women and Indian women's are epitome of forgiveness. That's why I said in my first comment that the only thing that bugs me in this movie is this part of the movie. Where everything was perfect in this movie but at the end they destroyed it.I was saying it on the Behalf of this movie becoz sometimes movies are the mirrors of reality and again I agree that it's not eazy to leave your husband becoz your are not financially independent or as you said father of 4 kids but have you ever imagine wht if we swap the roles and women's are the one who is cheating on their husband's. They won't even take a minute to kicking her out of his house and divorce her. This is what I said Even in this movie they have showed that the women have no where to go. Apart from her husband she has no one. And she easily forgive him. And that's what irks me. My only point was they should have changed the ending that's it. I know in real life it's not eazy but these kinds of movies are becoming inspiration now days and if they have conveyed wrong message even in movies then what's the use of making a movie with political correctness. And I still wish that women's in our country become this much financial independent that they don't have to bear an ungrateful and unfaithful partner just becoz they are not financially stable.

My mother said this many times, "you did more bad deeds in your previous life if you are reborn as a woman." No matter how I thought about it, she seemed right. I considered many things but there was nothing that could contradict this statement. Rape cases, patriarchy, honour killing, forced marriages, death while giving birth, unequal property inheritance or no inheritance at all, lack of education because parents spend money on sons, domestic violence, leaving one's home after marriage, fathers abandoning or killing their daughters because they want a son, murders for dowry, misogyny, women being labelled as dumb, working women taking care of the house alone, unfair beauty standards to be eligible for marriage when one cannot change one's skin colour, harsh environments after marriage, victim blaming, acid attacks, less freedom compared to men, leaving one's job after marriage and the list goes on.

It actually wasn't like that, in earlier films many married couples struggles were pictured. Still are but less.

But this is a POV from an elite upper caste and Class, is I believe one of the major criticisms of the film. Also a good example of Urban Feminism.

Yeah , the director tried to show the sad reality in a fun way by including rich upper class but people thought ki ye toh ameero ke chochle hai , so it flopped , guess back to usual 100 cr masala flicks

The family you are considering for generalising all indian family is inaccurate. How many of us has such lifestyles? And by characters concluding women are getting suffered is senseless.

In bollywood walo first nazar mai pyar ho jata hai, but jiske sath saalo rahte hai usme se feeling chale jati hai . I understand 2-3% partner can be toxic and for them divorce is only option. I am yet to see any movie about remaining. Truth of life is ki adjust karke hi sab marriage tikti hai and yes those people are more likely to be happier then who just give up. Kabhi ye to dikhao ki kaise two different thought process wale bhi saath mai rahke happy rah sakte hai, you don't have to be 100% compatible.

The husband didn't treat her as equal , he even said that he allows the wife to do her buisness , maybe it is not a good reason for divorce but " i don't love him" is a very valid reason for breaking a marriage
