Where the old days of cinema has gone nowadays none of the film represent arts just wasteful of stories. Sujoy ji absolutely depicts an arts of bengal in kahaani which none other can do.

One of my favourite films. The twist was so shocking precisely because we'd never believe that a woman like Vidya would fake a pregnancy -- we buy into her pregnancy and vulnerability just like all characters on screen do. It uses our biases about who we trust and who we consider dangerous so powerfully to craft a beautiful story, that then makes us think through our perceptions.

I loved this movie! Especially the fact that for the first time they showed a man falling for a woman who is pregnant with a child that is not his own and he is more than comfortable enough in his masculinity to not be possessive or toxic towards her and just care for her from far, without making any demands on her

I wish Bwood made more psychological Thrillers like Kahani and gave women more prominent roles which are suited to the progression of the plot of the movie. Tending to a pregnant lady is by no means rooted in sexism, rather, is based on care.

I don't remember watching many films as rich as Kahaani was in terms of cinematography, colors, storyline, acting or plot. The filmmakers included so many little details and parallels, it is pure genius. This film was well ahead of its time, and exploring each little detail with this video was a joy.

The idea of using stereotypically feminine traits to disarm men around a woman is beautifully explored in Raazi as well. Meghana Gulzar shows how badass Sehmat is while also showing how vulnerable, sensitive and caring she can be. The amount of parallels that can be drawn between these two films with respect to the characters and their relationships is incredible!

I miss another Kahani or another Piku. South Indian blockbusters are good but it will be a pleasure to see strong independent women stories a little more often. Piku inspired me to be more responsible, Kahani inspired me to be more courageous. I am sure these sorts of movies will define how we see women in general.

And here's my bhabhi (a relative, not my own, we are guests here) who's 5months pregnant literally works whole day (total 8members) does all the chores, kapde bhi hath se dhoti hain, dishes and jhaadu etc. Shaam ho jati hai unko kaam karte karte, phir dinner and sabko khilane mein 11 baj jaate hain, her husband doesn't even care, no emotional support (cousin brother) Subah 5 baje uthna hota hai otherwise her mother in law scolds her, and oh god this is so fkin common in Village areas which is just sad and unfortunate I mean still there are guys who says ki aurtein krti kya hain ghar pe? Literally they don't even understand, I don't even feel like commenting here anything anymore just toxic ignorant mysoginists are here who don't and will never understand that this is what most of the women go through on the daily basis. Sab Ameer nhi hain idhar , tumlog bas comments kar dete ho apne cosy rooms mein baith ke, in logon ko vo bhi naseeb nhi hota. The movie is just so good! I remember when I had watched it for the first time, and when the twist happened, I just paused the movie to take in what happened. It was just THAT amazing, paired along with a brilliant cast esp Vidya Balan and superb screenplay with a banger of a script that kept the tension going throughout the movie, it's a bollywood gem. Also I love how two of my favourite bollywood movies- Kahaani and NH10 are both used as examples in the recasting series. Loved the analysis, esp the parallels to Vidya portraying different avatars of Shakti.

Kahaani was a super film. Coming back to mollycoddling preg women, i think it mostly happens in romcoms and cute videos. In real life, a preg woman gets some relief if her own mom is capable and looks after her. Else, most mothers-in-law don't really do anything. A husband may genuinely be caring but he can't do much because most men have been not taught basic housework by their moms and are too pampered to figure out what wives need while being a human incubator.

Kali or durga does not have any weapons of her own. All her weapons were borrowed from the powerful male Gods to kill Mahishasura.. She was created by the male Gods, just because Mahishasura had got a blessing from Brahma that he could not be killed by any God or man.. After killing Mahishasura, the weapons were returned to the powerful male Gods... The sources of her implements (weapons) are listed: (verses 19-30) Shiva gave her the power of his trident, Vishnu his wheel and mace; Varuna (Upholder of the Cosmic Order) gave her the conch, Agni the spear, Vayu (the Wind God) gave her a quiver filled with inexhaustible arrows; Indra gave her his lightning (Vajra ayudha) and the bell from his beloved elephant Airavatha; Yama (God of Death) gave her a part of his death staff, Varuna gave her a part of his rope, Brahma gave her a japa mala and kamandalu (water pot); Surya (the Sun God) gave her his rays taken from every pore of his body, Time gave her his sword and a sparkling shield; The sea of milk (Ksheerodhara) gave her a garland of pearls and ever-fresh clothing; Vishwakarma (the architect of the Gods) gave her a crest jewel (choodamani), ear studs, bangles, the crescent moon, armlets for all her arms, and toe rings, and axe, several types of arrows, and an unbreakable shield; The sea god gave her a garland of unfading flowers and a lotus flower; Himavan (the Himalayas personified) gave her a lion to ride and various gems; Kubera (the God of Wealth) gave her a goblet filled with wine; Anantha (Vishnu’s companion) gave her a snake garland. As per hindu mythology, The origins never had a term or word like kali or durga or shakthi. It was only the Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva as three approaches of Paramatma, So don't confuse yourself Not only this time, Durga was blessed by powers of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva to gain powers, eg. Battle before Mahishasura. All her weapons were borrowed from male Gods to kill Mahishasura. She was created from male Gods.. One lustrous power arose from their (Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva) very angry faces. (v. 9) A powerful force emerged from the bodies of all the assembled devas (v. 10). Both coalesced into an incomparable flame and took the form of Kali (v. 13) described in every detail: (v. 13-17) Her face from Shiva, her hair from Yama, and her 18 arms from Vishnu; Her two breasts from the power of the moon, her middle from Indra, her calves and thighs from Varuna, and from Mother Earth her behind; Her feet from Brahma, her toes from the power of the Sun, her fingers from the Ashta Vasus and from Kubera, her nose; Her teeth from the Prajapatis (the ten sons of Brahma), her three eyes from Agni (the Fire God); Her brows from the power of dawn and dusk, from the wind her ears; together the powers united in her.

Today swaddle is saying that helping women is sexist and they're not weak but trust me all of your feminism will be useless when women need help. I have seen how in America feminist made society numb by calling them sexist . Now no guy try to help women because feminist indoctrinated men & women to not help each other. Women blame men for not helping and helping too that's what feminist gave to society.

Kahani is a phenomenal movie that we can all agree. I also like how Vidya Balan carries herself as a pregnant woman. What I didn't like is the way you put stereotype that "pregnant ladies have been portrayed as abla naari in movies" just because someone is helping them out. I mean we've never been pregnant so we don't really know what a pregnant lady goes through. It doesn't mean that she's an abla naari. If it shows anything, then it shows how understanding the people are to help them. Also, there's also a risk of an unpleasant miscarriage if the lady overdoes it. So, people try to help them out which I see no problem. Today's woke culture makes a non issue an issue.

You make videos about Indian issues but none in any of the Indian languages. Hypocrisy much? Who do you cater to?
