Writing from San Diego, CA. Thank you so much for providing your perspective and insights. I’m a seasoned first responder looking to pivot away from emergency management and emergency medical services, and explore project management in general. Your content is awesome! Very thoughtful and well articulated. I feel positive about my chances of moving into a new career path. I also feel as though my individual skills - that once made me successful as a medic and emergency services coordinator - are 100% transferable. I made sure to subscribe. Looking forward to future content. Keep it up! Thank you, Hunter

Something no one has hardly mentioned?: So I know there are different kinds of project managers, i.e; Software, IT, Architecture, Construction, Retail etc. - So since there are multiple specializations one can choose as a project manager career pathway this beckons the question should every project manager know how to code? (Html, Java etc) & if not then would you say there is a suggestive set of skills that one should absolutely have whether those are computer related (Knowing excel, Microsoft programs) or otherwise? If so then what would you say it is critical or highly suggested to have as a skill set before you even apply to jobs? Thanks! (I Feel like this is a "fine print" area and I have not seen much in the way of anyone mentioning additional skills one must have or should have as a standard for project managers)
@RecipeforSuccess1
@RecipeforSuccess1 2 жыл бұрын
Hi NerdLabStudios - I do not code. While I think coding can be helpful if you work on SDLC (software development Lifecycle), I don't think it's a necessity to be a good PM. I think the soft skills, being diligent, being flexible with a focus on getting stuff done and supporting your team is more important. I appreciate the feedback around skills and maybe I"ll consider doing a video on this!

Hi Enasir - I'm sorry to hear that. I would apply anyway and focus your resume on PM experience or consider adjacent industry experience.
