Mozammel Haque is a promoter of plant-based diet and active lifestyle, he is also the founding moderator of BDCyclists, Bangladesh's largest bicycling group. Mozammel's cycling activism is now spreading like a healthy virus through Dhaka city, and BDCyclists has now more than 19,000 members.
[This talk is recorded on September 21st 2013 at the TEDxDhaka conference at ISD Auditorium in Dhaka, Bangladesh]
------
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Excellent, separate cycle paths reduces conflict between motorist and cyclist. The BD government could build bridges for cyclists and pedestrians. Give cyclists a direct route and let motor traffic ride a longer route on a ring road, just like the Dutch cities of Houten and Groningen. A start would be cheap bike lanes: just a painted white line to separate cyclists from cars. Also start a cyclist union, like we have in the Netherlands. If you want to know more about cycle infrastructure, take a look at the channels: Markenlei and David Hembrow. However, it took the Dutch 40 years to build the cycle infra and we still improving it, so BD it will take time.

Great initiative. But have you or any of your fellow cyclists faced miscreants while commuting? It's an important issue and big deterrant
