Hi The chair is working. Gold Brand. The Back button on the electric remote will not bring the Back up the normal level. . It’s semi reclining. Does this sound like a repairman needed ?

My mother’s power recliner actuator /motor slowly reclines but won’t power lift her do I need to change the actuator ?

Thank you for all the detailed explanations! I am presuming you have primarily covered what is most common across a variety of recliner brands. I was hoping for some more information and descriptions on parts for the mechanism. We have recliners from Slumberland, made in USA, and no indication if the parts are foreign. Both recliners have been afflicted with the same problem of a cross bar snapping at point where it is attached to an L shaped bar, which is attached to the actuator arm of the motor in the centre. Do you think there is any hope in finding replacement bars, or should I focus on finding the whole mechanism assembly? Thanks for your time.

@Mark Floerke - Always start with the furniture seller (dealer) or manufacturer when looking for replacement parts. According to Slumberland Furniture, they provide warranty service for 90 days after the sale, and "...will provide a technician referral in your area" for items no longer covered by warranty. Learn more ---> www.slumberland.com/service-repairs.html Mechanisms can often be rebuilt, but replacing the entire unit is not a bad idea. Especially if the unit is several years old.

Great videos. Wondering if you can help me identify what parts I need to replace when my footrest sags, in my case to the right. Thanks
@reclinerrepairguy41552 жыл бұрын
@Paul C - This usually indicates that one of the Extension Scissors is bent, loose or broken. Replace both, even if only 1 of the scissors is bad.

Sound like it's running of battery's rather than mai s power. Check power to the chair

Any idea what the part is called where recliner table trays slide into? My recliner is missing the chrome piece where the post on the tray fits into.

I have watched these and maybe I missed it but can you help me identify the metal rods holding the springs down? There are sort of weaved together on top of the springs. I have a pic if helpful but don't think I can attach here. TIA

@D Lewis - Are you referring to the Cross Brace Wires that tie the Seat Springs together? You can send a photo to me @ pete@reclinerrepairguy.com

I’m looking at purchasing a recliner. Electric or lever? What will last the longest? US manufacturer better for getting parts later I understand. Thank you.
@reclinerrepairguy41555 жыл бұрын
cheryl Adelmeyer - What will last the longest? Several factors will determine that. Among them are things like: # of electrical parts (that can / will eventually fail), quality of the chair build, whether the chair receives heavy use or abuse, etc. If you haven't already, check out my video on 'How to Buy the Right Recliner' -- reclinerrepairguy.com/advice_tips.htm#buyright

I have watched many of your repair video and repaired my recliner. my Brother in law ( has polio) and sits all day in a recliner, but it broke it is a Xlarge brand Ashley with a wooden handle is that the same handle as Lazy boy?
@reclinerrepairguy4155 Жыл бұрын
@Karin Deerman - Contact Ashley for a replacement handle. It's not likely that the La-z-boy handle would work.

Your videos are excellent and very informative. I recently had to purchase a new wand/remote for my lift chair. I first went to the dealership where the recliner was purchased but they could not supply because the recliner is very old. They did give me the # of their customer service which is where I got "the last wand" or so I was told. They told me to take the other wands to a repairman for repair. But what type of repairman does this kind of work? Can you give me suggestions? Thank you.
@reclinerrepairguy41554 жыл бұрын
@Nancy Parker - Someone who does electrical / electronic repair may be able to help you. If they know of someone in your area that does this work, they should have referred you to them.

I just purchased a recliner set the footrest is so hard to put down can you help me
@reclinerrepairguy41554 жыл бұрын
Myriam Villarruel - If you purchased it new and with a warranty, contact the seller to report the problem. Most new furniture comes with a full 1 year warranty.

Is it hard or easy to find parts for a Southern Motion power recliner. Thank you Jim
@reclinerrepairguy41553 жыл бұрын
@Jim Smith - That's a name brand, so getting parts should be pretty straightforward. Contact the manufacturer or one of their dealers for parts. Also, when ordering electrical parts there's often a manufacturer name on the part. That gives you another option, should you need that part.

Amazon bud. Or ebay in the unlikely event you can't find it on AZ. Just be sure to pull the old part and take some measurements to match up to the description and pictures.
@999fine53 жыл бұрын
So basically buy from amazon because they accept almost all returns. And be sure to pull your broken part first so you can match up the important bits like length, handle and configuration? Simple enough.

Sorry, I didn't learn much. You really didn't show me anything I could use. Nice guy, well meaning but nothing useful. How about some links I could use right away. I want a schematic and everything I find on line is poor quality.
@reclinerrepairguy41554 жыл бұрын
Kris Greenwood - Some people will find replacement parts online fairly quickly, while others will never find them there. There are no links or schematics that will help everyone equally. That's why I created the Recliner Parts video series, to explain the basics of tracking down replacement parts, if / when they are still available online, or through dealers & manufacturers.

@@reclinerrepairguy4155 : thanks for getting back to me. We gave the recliner away to someone who believed he could find the parts. My wife wanted a new one so we got a new one.
