Recommissioning my 75 - Stage one of mot prep - Diesel air, cabin and fuel filter service guide.
#robsonroverrepair #rover75 #mgzt
Well before I get torn into my tourer projects I need to finish my white 75's recommissioning.
Essentially giving the car a huge service and overhaul of everything it needs.
This is part 1, but also showing how easily anyone can do the air, cabin and fuel filters on any diesel 75 or mg zt.

Got myself a zt-t and your videos are among the very best I have come across. You have helped me no end so thanks for that. Do you have an recommendations for suspension? I have a feeling I'll need to replace my springs in the coming months due to corrosion

Thank you Tom. Personally I would look either towards DMGRS for shocks and springs. Or if you want oem and can get the matching codes Rimmer Bros. Personally if you can handle a sporting setup the Motobuilds are great but sacrifice a lot of comfort on a daily setup, as it would be as stiff as the oem sport ones but shorter and really need the sporting shocks to match over the usual zt comfort ones.

People on the mainland UK have no idea what a shitshow the MOT system is in Northern Ireland. Can't book one until there's a month left on the old one and then you wait 4 months for a test or go on every day to get a cancellation, absolute nightmare.

And don't forget the backhanded government involvement. Ah to be a mot tester. Must make some serious cash.

Hello there, got any working tips or tricks as to how remove the three screws holding the air intake at the front, the ones on the slam panel? Mines just spinning around and apparently it's quite common issue but there isn't much ways as to how take them out without cutting them off. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
@RobsonRoverRepair

Well mate you have a couple of options, bumper and slam panel off will give you the best access to get at them. Or replace the intake, rip old one off and cut the screws out of the way. Replace with caps with bungs on them into the intake and use some plastic scrivits to replace so they never rust or jam again. I prefer 2nd option as it's a lot easier.

I ended up drilling out the heads and replaced with bungs. Thanks for reply and keep up the good work mate, love the vids full of valuable information and without any bs. Top job :)

I'm getting PTSD watching this! Mr Steve, my non-house trained, wannabe mechanic and lump fisted gorilla, forced his unwanted nose into the servicing of my Jewish racing gold 75 and proceeded to break my fuel injector clips!

A really nice Rover once again with a not so nice diesel engine. I’m not a big fan of diesel’s in passenger cars. Rovers are supposed to be luxury & diesel just doesn’t sit right. It needs a V6 engine to do it any sort of justice. All the work is incredibly important don’t sell yourself short.

You know if it wasn't for the maintenance costs on a kv6 auto I'd probably have one as a daily now days as I do much less millage. But I must admit I do enjoy the diesel auto combo especially when tweeked a little.

I’m very biased here because I am in Australia & I have Jan 2001 build (pre project drive) solar red metallic Rover 75 V6 in top of the range Connoisseur SE spec as my daily driver.

@@RobsonRoverRepair the maintenance is not really too bad considering. I do around 12,000 miles per year & it’s no more expensive than a mid range VW. Around £150 for the 6000 mile service or £230-£250 for the big 12,000 mile service. Mind you I am a mechanic & so I do all the work myself & use higher priced parts.

The BMW diesel engine in these is bulletproof. I had two, and one of them went for 275,000 miles until i scrapped the car due to reversing into a tree. The engine was perfect. Same with my second one. Never had to do anything apart from change the oil and filters. On the rover 75 forums you never see any issues with these engines. Understressed compared to their application in BMWs themselves i think.

@@margosdesarian they are very good engines. I have worked on a number of them myself & the will out last the test of time. I just personally don’t enjoy diesel’s very much. I prefer the silky smoothness of a V6 petrol engine. Nothing against the diesel per say. Just my personal preference & diesel isn’t as prevalent in Australia.
