The procedures are based on instructions in the Rasaprakāśasudhākara's fourth and fifth chapters.

apologies for this slightly off topic question: I have been led to believe that neem plays a significant role in some ayurvedic procedures. Could you please shed light on the truth of this? How often is neem called for and for what processes and purposes?

Neem is an important herb in Trivanga bhasma. It bitterness and coldness make it useful in countering Pitta dosha and toxic blood disorders. Panca Tikta (5 bitters) is another herbal mix used in Ayurveda.
