Consider this analogy. Imagine your sick- What do you do? Drink water, Eat healthy food, fight the virus, get healed. SO THINK OF IT LIKE THIS The earth is very sick right now. Yet we are the only virus it needs to fight. This is the earths way of drinking water and eating food that will cleanse itself to heal. So in the end, we will lose just like a virus unless we find a way to adapt

@@pegasus5287 Las Vegas is literally immaterial to the water level in Lake Mead. If Las Vegas disappeared tomorrow, it wouldn't make a difference to the lake. Las Vegas uses less than 1% of the water that comes out of the lake each year. The other 99+% goes to the 7 state area that makes up the Colorado River Compact, largely for irrigation to support the agriculture of a huge southwestern area. So, are you thinking that there shouldn't be any agriculture, or any of the hundred million people who depend on it?

There has been an on and off again discussion concerning the safety of the road into Yellowstone Park's northern entrance for decades. Falling rocks have destroyed many a vehicle's underside along with dirt slides over the century, and now we see the road almost completely washed out in sections. There has been an alternate route in and out the park by using a parallel dirt road that doesn't follow the river so closely. Maybe it's time to pave the dirt road, and turn the paved road back to dirt or just let parts of it float away?

Difficult times for those impacted...sorry for your losses. At the same time, I'm always surprised by those surprised when mother nature does her thing. Spectacular landscapes are/were created by catastrophic events (at least from our perspective) and people don't seem to understand this obvious fact. As to us "destroying the planet" this is a naïve and self centered perspective. While we might be influencing the rate of climate change occurring on this planet, the planet will be just fine. It always has and always will be. In fact, most animals, including humans do much better in warmer climates than colder ones. The worse case scenario is global cooling, not global warming. And again, something that is obvious but missed by most.

" In fact, most animals, including humans do much better in warmer climates than colder ones." - this is patently untrue. Even humans will be suffering if average planet temp is up by 5F. Well those of us in the Midwest do not want to give up ours. We endure harsh winters but having plenty of water is one of the benefits. Move here if you want water.

All this water is on the wrong side of the continental divide and flows into the Mississippi.

Because this is nowhere near Lake Meade. This water goes into the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers and down to the Gulf of Mexico. You should not have cut Geography class.

I have seen several comments regarding this. People seem to have no idea what would be involved to "move" that water to Lake Meade. It would take a Noahs Ark event to get it over those mountains. Now maybe when the eruption happens?
