Although you didn't cover it, seeing 'Stereo Out' on the channel strip helped solve a problem. For some reason when Logic creates a new audio track, the output was set to 'no output'. I also learned about resetting the volume using Opt/Alt and clicking on the fader. Really well explained, not rushed and precise.

It is unclear which videos we are supposed to have seen before this one. @1:51 I would suggest to Focusrite to create a specific playlist just for Logic, from setting up Focusrite in Logic to more advanced tutorials that just apply to Logic. I am trying to reconstitute one :/ And/Or having links to next and previous videos in description.

I need some help. Whenever I use direct monitoring, I can't hear myself while recording. If I monitor through logic, the volume is so low I have to crank my headphones up to hear myself decently. And if I put direct monitoring on and monitor through logic, I get feedback that creates an echo and causes latency. I just want to track myself with some reverb and delay in my ears. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.

Hello, I have a Mice Pre Amp, and also have a Focusrite 18i20 2nd Gen. Does it matter what mic input I use?? I saw everyone saying don't use front Mic Input, and turn the input gain all the way down!! There are no tutorials that explain as well as this one!!
@FocusriteHelp
@FocusriteHelp 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kim, it's unclear exactly what you mean here, but you can certainly use any of the analogue inputs on the 18i20, setting the gain dial appropriately so that the halo glows consistently green. I would highly recommend referring to the user guide, and coming to tech support if you need further guidance: fael-downloads-prod.focusrite.com/customer/prod/s3fs-public/focusrite/downloads/31605/scarlett-18i20-2nd-gen-user-guide.pdf

Hi Focusrite people, I notice the "i/o buffer size" is set to 128 in your example. Can you tell me the significance of choosing 128 over, say, 256 or any other setting? What is this setting for and when would one need to change it? I do love your products and have recommended Focusrite to others based on your excellent customer service. So thanks for that and for this video. Great way to communicate with your customers.
@LegionIO
@LegionIO 3 жыл бұрын
Basically, you want a lower buffer size (32/64) if recording things like vocals as you don't want the latency issues (when you say something in the mic and then you hear it back slightly delayed). you want a higher buffer if using a lot of things such as plug ins or several line ins at once. that is kind of the basics. check out some of the videos, theres quite a few that are easy to understand. Hope this helps a little.

Sorry, I am quite late with my answer but they had a video on it explaining, (the whole video is not about buffer size, but they clearly mention it and talk about it). Link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j9mbn7mUmL7WeX0.html

So selecting the Scarlett as output device in logic, will you hear direct monitoring in your headphones with or without any effects or EQ you have applied in logic?
@FocusriteHelp
@FocusriteHelp 3 ай бұрын
Scarlett will need to be selected as both the input and output device. When in use, all audio passes through Scarlett. Direct Monitoring essentially just routes the input signal straight to the outputs, bypassing the DAW and any processing, allowing you to hear the signal in real-time without any noticable latency. Or you can not use Direct Monitoring and simply monitor from the DAW, with processing.

when using headphones with the focusrite, how much gain should i but the monitor volume up by? cuz i always mess it up by putting it down too much, and then needing to put my microphone volume up and then i get confused :\
@FocusriteHelp
@FocusriteHelp 9 ай бұрын
It's important to remember that Gain isn't a volume control. The headphone volume control should be used if you want to increase the level in your headphones. Scarlett's Gain Halo should be Green/Yellow for the best results. Scarlett's coloured Gain Halo is designed to make it easy to set the perfect Gain level. Green indicates an input level of at least -24 dBFS (i.e., ‘signal present’), the ring turns amber at -6 dBFS to indicate the signal is close to clipping, and finally to red at 0 dBFS (digital clipping).

I actually found the solution. the issue was that the output speakers on the back was set the same as the headphones. Well in turn there was 2 sets of audio going thru with one having some latency. Making it sound robotic. because it was if I was monitoring the same signal twice while using Logic Pro.@@FocusriteHelp

No matter what I do - I get quiet vocals in logic pro x using my scarlet 4i4 - help?
@FocusriteHelp
@FocusriteHelp 5 ай бұрын
Hi, apologies for the delay in response. -Is the issue only occurring on Logic or on all operations with the interface and your Mic? -You may want to try a different USB or XLR cable. A damaged cable can cause diminished performance -If this is a 4th generation Scarlett, if so, have you tried using an external power supply, any standard USB-C power supply would work. -Finally, what microphone are you using? Certain dynamic mics output notably low gain (such as SM7B) for these we sometimes recommend using gain devices such as a cloud lifter. Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.

I have Scarlett 4i4 in Logic and have spent hours trying to get less latency... changed buffer sizes, hit low latency button, seen all the tutorials. Still latency, enough to make playing along impossible. How do I fix this!? I’m reading about a new “direct” button in logic X? Do I have to upgrade... all I want to do is record but I’ve spent all my time on this one issue, ready to pull my hair out.

Forgive me for this dumb question. I'm new at this. If the input is for vocals is set to "input 1" does it mean the tack has to be doubled to become stereo? Am I wrong to assume "input 1 is mono?
@FocusriteHelp

Hi Lou, yes each input represents a mono signal. If you had two mics plugged in for example into 1-2, you could have these coming into one stereo track in Logic

@@FocusriteHelp yes I have, I think I was getting confused as I’ve only just realised, on a Scarlett 6i6, I need to use the second headphone output as the first is on the same channel as the monitors, so no matter what I had sound in my earphones the same as the monitors. Something like that anyway. I don’t know if I’m doing it right as it seems to confuse me, but I think what I’m doing is working for me. Thanks bro

Hi, the AIR function is purely optional as an EQ preset; Air emulates the technology of the same name from our ISA preamp and will likely make sound sources such as guitars and vocals sound brighter and more spacious.
