4 жыл бұрынFor about half the price of the newer DR-40X, I found the slightly older Tascam DR-40 Version 2. This item was sold as "used" but looked almost new when I received it.
In this video, I check out the main features of this recorder and do a test recording.

I got one years back for 200 bucks, super handy recorder sturdy build and lots of features

I've used it on multiple project. I find myself using the XLR inputs more than the built in microphones.

I am head of technical support for Tascam. Version 2 is the version we made after we made version 1. Hope this helps

The built in microphones are great, plus you have the option to use your own external microphones. Great device. The newer model offers wifi too, but it costs about twice what I paid for this one.

I like it better than my old Roland R-05 even though it cost less. The Roland stopped working after alkaline batteries leaked inside it.

Make another video please. If you could cover the basic set up settings that would b great. I just bought a Tascam DR-40X and I think i accidentally set it up with some sort of limiter since I can barely hear anything I've recorded, & I managed to turn off the external speaker for playback & my recordings only last about 10 seconds before it quits recording ha! Needing help out here!

I was curious if you plug say a lav xlr in one and a dynamic mic in the other and have sound going through them, can you adjust the gain differently on both mic?

If you hit the "REC MODE" button, there is an option called "EXT INDEP" that will allow you to adjust the input level of each XLR input independently. Please keep in mind that phantom power is NOT independent, it is either ON for both inputs or OFF.

ThriftyAV that also means the included mics are on and I don’t want that. The phantom power won’t hurt the dynamic mic will it?

If the record mode is set to "STEREO" and not "4CH", then "EXT INDEP" only uses the external inputs, not the built-in microphones. ThriftyAV ok thanks. I’ll use phantom because my lav won’t work without it but my dynamic mic I was worried about cuz it doesn’t need it

ThriftyAV update after trying your advice. It’s doesn’t work for me because if I put it on anything other than Mono, the Left xlr is only in the left ear and right in right and I want a mono sound for both mics combined
