It doesn't matter. Cat5e will allow for 1Gbps ethernet at 100 meters max distance. Pretty much anything you buy these days will be Cat5e at the least. You don't need Cat6. It's overkill. Unless you plan on recording 256 tracks simultaneously at 192kHz / 24bit (Wav)? This would put you at just slightly over a gigabit; I think about 1.1248 Gbps off the top of my head. Cat6 will give you around 55 meters (probably less) of 10Gbps ethernet. I have no idea why you'd need this but maybe you do I don't know. Cat6a will give you 100 meters of 10Gbps. Cat6 cables are a lot more inflexible though (bulky) and they're a bit more expensive. In my opinion completely unnecessary for any audio related work. Just as useless as 10Gbps ethernet. Unless, as I say, you'll be recording 256 tracks at the same time at the highest available conversion rates. If your needs are not that extreme Cat5e probably is more than you'll ever need.
