I always called it "sweetening" when I'd take my exported songs back into the DAW to nudge particular EQ frequencies, and compressing the whole track. Great idea to start it that way.

Bro thisbis so controversial but when something works use it. And I have been using this because I can't stand the way my stuff sounds sometimes to even start with out doing a little on the master. You know way more than I ever will. But so glad you had the courage to say it.

Awesome, i've only got back into recording and mixing, so this is great. The mixing university link isn't working for me, but maybe it will later. Thought i should let you know just in case.

The master fader treats whatever comes through it as a stereo track not individual tracks, so,, one db boost doesn't mean a one db boost for all individual tracks, one db boost on master fader means exactly 1db boost

I’ve always used a combination of track inserts, mixing busses and some subtle EQ, mastering plugin and a tiny “glue” reverb on the mastering bus. I’ve been wondering if this was right. (I’m not mixing church worship music, of course)

Hey Graham, I have a question for you? Isn’t any plug-in that goes on the Master fader post-fader? And if so, shouldn’t I want a Submaster AUX track to do real pre-fader mixing?

Hey Graham. Nice tip! How can i get you on the phone to ask you a few questions about vocal recording? I want to know how to read peak hold meters ... that yellow orange looking line above the signal in full green when setting instrumental levels on the mix window in Pro Tools. This can be a paid gig ... if you already did a video on this please point me to it. Thank you from a beginner in Pro Tools.

Looks like you’re doing some mastering within a mix session. The point of doing channel moves is so that you don’t end up with a mass of one frequency range. Leave the small mix bus moves for your mastering session.
