I just bought my first pair of better quality boots (Iron Rangers) and am now jonesing for some Nick's Americana boots. Bravo on this video... well done and remarkable craftmanship on the resole work!!

A new Iron Rangers video will be filmed soon. You will be able to go inside the boot in detail in this video. I’m wanting a pair of Nicks too! 😁

The extra flap of leather is a kiltie and it protects the gusseted tongue and provides extra cushion from the laces.

You guys took a boot that looked great, changed it up to make it more casual and it came out looking great! Really well done. Very much enjoyed this video. Thank you!

Really appreciate the production quality of your videos. Not only is it fun to watch the boots get worked on but it's visually appealing too. Keep the great videos coming and I look forward to seeing your channel continue to grow and reach more people

When a professional Cobbler needs to "take a different approach" to get a boot apart and sounds winded afterwards, its a well made boot! haha. I really hope in the decades and generations to come there are folks like this around keeping us comfortable and saving the environment by making stuff that lasts and is serviceable and rebuildable.

Wow, I learnt more from this video than I ever did after watching all of Nick's boots videos. I own a pair of Nick's and yeah, I think they're a great pair of boots but to understand the construction from your perspective has change the way I look at them. Thank you so much for making this video.

I just came across y'alls channel yesterday or maybe the day before. I've watched and enjoyed several of your videos already. Anyway, I'm glad to see how much you like Nick's boots because I've been wanting a pair for some time. I have to wear safety toed work boots and I'm sick of my feet hurting.

Do you charge more fore replacing soles on Nicks boots knowing how well they are built?

Has anyone compared their Nicks sizes to their Arcteryx/New Balance sizes? Always ordered half the size down?
@jaymartinrealtor77362 жыл бұрын
Awesome job and a great pair of boots! Why not use your lemonwood pegs in the outer leather sole? They will expand and contract with the leather whereas nails will loosen on the leather.
@WyattDadCobblerCompany2 жыл бұрын
Lemon wood pegs are good for manufacturing purposes, but not for repair purposes. Also, Nicks Boots didn’t use lemon wood pegs, probably because wood will not hold up to the strain work boots are put through.

@Coleone139 Жыл бұрын
Hmm. I noticed you didn’t replace the squeak pad in the forefoot (between the insole and midsole). Nicks uses a thin black synthetic material to prevent friction. Was it unnecessary or unnoticed? I’m just curious, you do good work I’ve seen. It’s laid down right after they do the shank and Blake the midsoles on.
@WyattDadCobblerCompany Жыл бұрын
It’s unnecessary with the method I use. Manufacturers use a different type of cement than we do. Ours binds a lot stronger
@jeffmitchell722 жыл бұрын
😍 😍
@InGrindWeCrust20102 жыл бұрын
One thing I missed is, why did you remove the mid-soles and lower welt on these since they looked to be in good condition? Was it just customer preference?
@WyattDadCobblerCompany2 жыл бұрын
The original midsole had been roughed up and glued to. The customer wanted a clean exposed leather waist, so new midsole was necessary. There was no lower welts. The stitching went beyond the turndown welts and was in the midsole only
Great video I enjoyed it ! Where is Your shop ? ( I'm guessing You're in close proximity to Nick's boot shop )
@WyattDadCobblerCompany2 жыл бұрын
We have 3 locations in North Carolina. Wyattanddad.com can give you all the physical locations and the shipping address for mail in orders. We are actually on the other side of the country from Nick’s boots. They heard about us and wanted to find out what we were about, so they shipped us a pair for the video.
@jakewalden7712 жыл бұрын
Hey man do you have any idea what type of leather those boots were?
@WyattDadCobblerCompany2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t research that. I’m sure that model is detailed on their website though. Thanks!
@Snugglez187 Жыл бұрын
Nick's makes a hell of a rugged boot, but the thing I don't like about their stitch-down construction is that you have limited resoles before you run out of leather after restitching and sanding, and then you have to fully re-last and replace half the boot, instead of just putting on a new welt. Personally, I would sacrifice a little bit of that insane strength and durability in order to have the longer overall life and ease of maintenance that comes with a welted boot. I'd still love to have a pair though. I just can't afford them. 🤷♂️
@stevenpeterson8444 Жыл бұрын
just discovered this channel. love y’alls content! one critique: the lighting/filter looks cool but totally detracts from the detail and craftsmanship. fine for b-roll but a bummer when you dig in.
@johnversluis30842 жыл бұрын
just to let you know Nicks dosn't use metal for the shank its leather shank the only metal is the nails and screws in the midsole and outer sole from a work boot Builder Pro boot made it into a robert style boot looks great

That’s why I corrected that statement near the end of the video.
