I bought a couple of 50's 60's era prom dresses for my daughters. The youngest would put it on, sit on the floor, and carefully arrange the skirt around her. Only then could I start her favorite video, Shelly Duval's "The dancing princesses. She fondly recalls this 35 years later.

I watched the entire video. I am really sorry your camera got stolen. The scenery was perfect for the dress & the fact that your family saw it, the way your mom reacted warms my heart. It's so nice they're supportive of your interest of sewing. The dress looks amazing, so many details, so much different fabric. I think you did an amazing job there. And honestly? Whatever makes you happy. Play pretend, cosplay. It's all harmless and you're still an adult that has a lot of friends and it seems like you're enjoying your life and trying to live it to the fullest, so I'd say you're doing great. Continue doing whatever makes you happy.

listening to you talking about how passionate you are about sewing this beautiful dress and working through burn out was really inspiring for me. I'm working on sewing my first gown (for my senior prom) right now and I've been having a lot of burn out right near the end. I've just felt so discoraged lately that it wont look as beautiful as I pictured or that I wont feel as good in it as I dreamed. but honestly working on it at all is a dream come true. designing and sewing my own dresses was a childhood dream of mine and little me would be overjoyed that I am finally doing it. your designs and costumes are gorgeous and I hope that I can make clothes as beautiful as them someday < 3

Amazing project... To do this and connect with your younger self is amazing. And i think your an expressive person from head, hands and toe. The dress is just wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing. It was a very important lesson. My adult brain was constantly screaming about how much waste of time and fabric it is when you do a dress you can’t wear everyday and just for one shooting… but I would sooooo love to wear such a dress too! My inner child would love that. And I think this is the lesson: we need to have a lot more of fun, do things that aren’t sensible but make us happy. It’s not all about logic and being useful and productive. Sometimes you heart just needs this kind of happiness

This is so inspiring! I also have a favorite young childhood dress and it crushed me when I couldn’t fit into it anymore because my shoulders were broader than before. I’m so glad my mom kept it because one day when I come farther in my sewing journey I’ll be able to recreate like you did. Both your old and new dress are very beautiful, you are incredibly skilled!

Normally I would be quiet and just watch and like the video, however....what a journey of emotions! Thank you so much for sharing not just the process of making this dress, but every drop of joy, how you overcome all the hurdles and at end you did great to focus on the bright side. I used the pattern you used for the skirt to make my dress for my school ball. Making the skirt was SUCH a pain lol. I envy your ability to use a overlocker for the hem - i wasn't so lucky, and decided i didnt want visible stiching so decided to hand sew all 6 meters of hem haha. Your dress looks amazing, everything my younger self could have dreamed of. You're so talented and your videos are wonderful to watch, please don't stop making them and sharing your creativity with all of us ❤
