Was there a particular reason for starting 30 mg daily (higher than the usual dosage range) for PMR?

The only symptoms I had was muscle stiffness, rapid irregular heartbeat and breathlessness while walking. I could walk about 40- 50 steps when my legs and hips suddenly became to stiff to move, it felt like I was dragging a ball and chain behind me. I had to stop for a couple of minutes in order to walk again. I was on low dose of pred, but hurt my back and was put on 40mg pred a day. Symptoms left and have not returned.
