@@ScrapFarm exactly I had a bunch of accounts auto shops thru the summer but wasn't worth it after a while I was making better money with mowing lawns but tbh its the cost of fuel I mean I used to love going out bulk nights even in my Lil s10 and it's like the gas is turning into water burning so fast and going up in price I stick to cord snipping and picking thru the good stuff when it's there ya know non ferrous hoarding and doing an occasional lite iron load but that's about it until gas prices come back down if they ever do.

It's funny, my initial amateur observation or opinion was that the big motor would be better sold intact, because the hardware was so heavy, and after seeing tbe numbers, definitely not worth it, even at the higher price. Your time & cutting blades etc. It really depends on how much stuff you have. For a small part-time scrapper who isn't able to find much scrap, it would be worth doing, or yourself in the dead of winter maybe when you're in out of the weather, but with the volume of stuff you have, hardly seems worth it. BUT that is just my opinion and as you know, I'm not an expert lol 😆

I like the tool bit you made for the Craftsman. Maybe you can make a smaller version of the bit for your smaller motors. Or are those smaller motors easier to do with just the hammer like you usually do? Might be able to use that large bit.. I don't know.. you would be better to determine that. But nice invention. Great idea to save your energy.
@ScrapFarm2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the small ones come right apart but other times they can really fight you so I'm sure this will come in handy a lot

Nice invention. Also, I want to mention a YT Channel you might enjoy watching. The YT Channel name is "Project Shop FL". This guy in Florida has a cool home-made scrapping shop and makes most of his own tools. All of his content is good, but check out one his tools he built in this video dated Feb 12. At the 5 minute 12 second time-stamp of this video "Making $70 An Hour Processing" he has a Frankenstein hydraulic press he built that punches out the copper cores of transformers and other motors, etc. He keeps track of his time and costs and shows the breakdown of the money he's making. Similar to the piece of paper you showed comparing the money earned breaking down that big motor. He gets a lot of his scrap from electricians, builders he has in his network. He goes to the their job sites and picks up all the leftover metal and buys it from them. Not sure exactly how he does it, but he works on volume. I just started watching his channel. I thought you might like to check him out. Good videos.
