Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge - Testing the Armed Miners

5 жыл бұрынWe tested the harvesting capabilities of the Miners but we didn't test their offensive capabilities. Two of the three miners in Red Alert2 can not only defend themselves but in special occasions be a formidable force.
The battle between the War Miner and the Slave Miner seemed to have a clear winner. The Slave Miner as tested before is with no doubt the most efficient miner. It's massive health also makes it one of the strongest, if not the strongest, unit in terms of survivability in the game.
So, in their basic levels both Miners seem to have the same power but with the extra health the Salve miner is a clear winner. However, as the gain promotions the War Miner becomes stronger in power than the Slave Miner.
The Slave Miner doesn't improve much while the War Miner has major improvements all around. In their elite promotions, both miners fire a cannon but with a huge difference in attack speed in favor of the War Miner.
In no occasion the War Miner surpassed the health of the Slave Miner but with each promotion it improved much better overall than the Slave Miner making it a close call.

Or you're fighting iraq, war miners are p-good for smashing desolators, and usually far out in field, so you can ambush ones on their way to attack. I also find Yuri miners end up elite just by wandering all over and aggressively mining everything. THen they show up in force at your base and cause trouble.

Once I had an elite war miner in Yuri’s revenge Soviet campaign mission 5. It killed tons of Yuri clone and virus sniper, u can absolutely count on war miner to deal with them and gain bunch of exp from that.

Actually though... The standard and veteran war miners can destroy a single rushing drone, but can the cannon of the elites do that too?

Never thought about it. I mean Terror Drone armor is weird so that might be a case where the gun can't kill them instantly.

Both War Miner and Slave Miner actually have the same weapon, both green/veteran and elite. You know how veteran and elite usually get buffs? Well, the Slave Miner gets no such buffs at all. The self-heal elite units usually get is not needed, as all Miners already do self-heal. The Slave Miner has twice as much Health as the War Miner.

For me, it was always the AI's 20 Yuri miners rolling right into my base late-game after the scraps at the drill site there. Usually high leveled from killing other AI's harassers. They would bulldoze a chunk of base if you don't have lots of defences, or an army ready to smash them.

I take it you've never been victim to a horde of Yuri miners rolling into your base late game after the last scraps of ore? They are a real nuisance and do a lot of damage if you're not ready.

There's one time all of us 8 noobs playing this RA2-YR in FFA mode in a map with scarce to none resources, we ended up fighting each others miners, too bad anyone with allied faction players died first... xD

War miner taking out early prism in vanilla Soviet campaign mission 7 is almost a must, unless with a few rhinos. That mission I just don’t have money early on.

That's maybe 'cause Slaver miner is both building and miner but also make so bad lose one. However, slaver miner are mostly the most efficient miner from three factions so ins't hard to replace one

I'm having flashbacks to late-game, when 20 or so veteran and elite Yuri-miners come smash their way into your base, going after whatever craps of ore are around your drill. They seemed a lot meaner back when YR was brand new. I wonder if they got nerfed, because I remember them doing _considerable_ damage before being overcome by base defences. And they always how up *right* _after_ you send your army off to do something else.

I always use the miner strategy for the mission where you rescue Romanov when he got shot down, just spam out a ton of miners and rush the left base, easy levels and elites

While it is enlightening about armed miners(like deployed Slave Miner is weaker comparing to undeployed or elite War Miner being MBT on steroids), the thing is - no-one will use them as combat units(with possible exception of War Miners, but only as baits(something about game code)), meaning veterans exist if you succesfully used allied spy and elites are as rare as crates with something good in the beginning of the game. P. S.: Stop Chrono Miner bullying today! 1 Like - 1 Prayer!

It's funny when war miner and slave miner bumps into each other. The slaves gets slaughtered and war miner takes barely any damage until rolling home.

I've used to rule.ini program and edit soviet can train cosmonaut and test him to battle rocketeer. Cosmonaut win but I can't remember he injured at yellow life scale or red life scale.
