Here after the 2021 premiership. Finally 16 years after this documentary was made the drought is broken. For Ron Barassi, Hassa Mann, Brian Dixon and John Beckwith who are still alive. For Stynes, Flower who have left the us. Finally won respect. Congratulations Demons.

Could Barassi have kept that to himself? The last thing demons fans wanted to hear was that his last game for us was a bad experience

When Norm Smith kicked the Grand Final record of 7 goals, was that a Club Record in a Grand Final? Because some would note that Gordon Coventry kicked 9 Goals for Collingwood either in the late 1920s or mid 1930s in one of those Collingwood premierships. Even in the 1980s when Kevin Bartlett kicking 7, Dermot Brereton kicking 8 and Gary Ablett senior kicking 9 goals and hearing the commentator saying they kicked the record, how could they forget to check the books and not notice that Gordon Coventry had already kicked 9 goals in a Grand Final many decades earlier?

It's due to a silly technicality of terms. Because Collingwood had finished minor premiers (top of the ladder) in 1928 -- when they beat Richmond in the last game of the finals series (with Gordon Coventry kicking 9 goals) it was considered the "Final". Had Richmond beaten Collingwood instead, the Magpies would've then exercised their "right to challenge" and played them off in a "Grand Final" a week later. Several Grand Finals before the advent of the Page-McIntyre final four system in 1931 were not considered "Grand Finals" for many years. The anomaly seems to have been corrected in recent years though, because when you look at the records today they rightly have Coventry as the equal highest goalkicker in a GF along with Gary Ablett snr.

Bukenara did not even have the ball when Stynes ran over the mark. It was not a penalty. Howlett was obviously a Hawthorn supporter. Even when he got it Bukenara looked around confused as if to say, "why? What for?" Clearly he didn't think he was infringed

Robbie Flower said the siren had sounded, so much noise that you will notice that the siren is still sounding when Buckenara took his kick. How many times has the siren sounded for about 30 seconds? Also, Carlton feared us more than Hawthorn, mark us down as the 1987 Premiers!

@@alasdairbaird7303we wouldn’t have beaten Carlton. Flower and Wilson wouldn’t have played due to injuries. Nevertheless hawks were gifted by a hawthorn-supporting umpire

Ron Barassi had a "no beards" rule when he was coach. Glad he wasn't there when Max Gawn turned up.
