James, I actually have a fun fact for you: Excluding that DNF from Australia 2024 it’s been exactly 560 days since Max Verstappen finished below P5. The last time it happened was in Brazil 2022 when George Russel won his first and only Grand Prix 💀. At that race he finished P6.

Yeah he is still absolutely the favourite for the title this year and next. But I am positive that the others can continue to make winning every race more difficult than it was last season.

Maybe not next year favourites to win the title as Ferrari McLaren develop their cars over the next year but for 2024 the championship is done but will be closer by a huge margin.

A simple explanation for this is that: In 2023 every team except Red Bull were struggling to make a good car. Red Bull were far ahead after understanding the new 2022 regulations even more and using Mercedes’s complaint to their own advantage. This season however teams like Ferrari and McLaren have finally caught up and are using their consistency to challenge Red Bull. And finally this car was amazing for tracks with high speed corners however in slower tracks it’s struggling a lot.

TD039 (plus ride height increases for 23) made for RB dominance. Before TD039, RB were clearly/significantly faster than the feild in one race. After TD039, RB were not clearly faster in Three races (before 2024)

My question is why is nobody talking about the absolute obsurd gap between formula A and B? Hamilton in seventh lapped eight place runner tsunoda so im confused as to why the gap between A and B were way larger than we have seen all year?
@NotApplicableF1
@NotApplicableF1 29 күн бұрын
It was definitely exaggerated by Monaco but with the top teams upgrading that gap could get bigger until the rest of the grid upgrade too and catch back up
@tak8261
@tak8261 29 күн бұрын
That is incorrect. Look at Monaco qualifying, it was close from top to bottom leading to Alonso and Checo being knocked out, and three midfield teams making it to Q3. You can’t use the main race as a benchmark, Yuki was purposely controlling the pace. When Yuki was allowed to go flat out in the last 2 laps, his time was close to Lewis’s fastest lap despite being on really old hard tyres. Yuki’s constant points finish demonstrates the pack is getting closer, despite the midfield teams having clear issues (Williams development delayed due to multiple crashes, Alpine weight issues, Sauber pit stop issues)
@Le-Floof
@Le-Floof 29 күн бұрын
@@tak8261 I understand that, Yuki has done an amazing job all season and has continued doing so in monaco. The point I was attempting to make was that I was surprised that such a large margin that's rarely occurred in F1 isn't a major talking point after this weekend. I'm probably an idiot and it's definitely happened before but I can't think of a race in recent times where there's been over a laps gap between two cars for positions next to each other. Sorry if what I'm saying doesn't make sense I'm not good at explaining what I'm thinking
@Zuze1221
@Zuze1221 29 күн бұрын
@@Le-FloofLike tak said. Yuki wasn’t pushing. He was managing tyres so they can hold up for all the race. Not very often teams stretch tyres from start to finish. Chances of Yuki passing Lewis were slim to none so why he would attack? He better save tyres, make sure he gets points home. Verstappen couldn’t even overtake Russell with new tyres. You need to look at the situation what caused it. If it would be any other track then there would be battle and pit stops, but in Monaco track position is everything.
@Le-Floof
@Le-Floof 29 күн бұрын
@@Zuze1221 yeah no I understand that he was looking after tires and that allowed him to push at the end of the race, I was just making note that despite that it's still incredibly rare for a gap that big to occur. I'm sorry I'm not really good at explaining myself.

How much do you think Checo's repair bill will hit the costcap and so impact the rate of developmemt/upgrades for the rest of the season?
@Ogole-oye
@Ogole-oye 27 күн бұрын
These titles falling apart? Just because other teams are finding performance doesn't mean it's falling apart for red bull. Every team will at sole point peak and others close in. Also remember outside of Miami which was a bit fortuitous for Lando, Max would have won but that's sports...the drop in form happens to be at Red bulls weakest tracks even last year they weren't so dominant in Monaco.....so hold your horses. But it could also be that red bull went into a wrong direction with their latest upgrades that are hurting performance and if they get it right boom.

Why, just why is everyone rounding up a whole season of 24 races after 3-6 races. Anything can go wrong, and this year, a lot or things did go wrong for RB. Do they have the best car? No, they just have a monster of a driver who can extract the absolute minimum of that car. This is me praising Max as a person who doesn't really like his way too aggressive style of driving. But i can't deny the genius that he is behind an F1 wheel. We have a 3rd of the races finished and it seems that the all conquering RB, isn't that all conquering after all. Last year it was better, but only because the rest where kindergartners compared to RB being a high schooler, paired with a professor. Thais is a reason i don't really like these type of misleading and clickbait videos that way too many F1 based channels cover...
@NotApplicableF1
@NotApplicableF1 29 күн бұрын
I think Red Bull do have the best car, in fact I say that these last 3 races will likely be the worst 3 of the season due to the nature of the tracks. I think they will continue to be the fastest and still set the standard despite having a very minor dip where they still won a race and came 2nd because of a safety car. But I think we can acknowledge that the rest of the teams are catching and Red Bull clearly have a weakness at tracks where the ride height is higher.

This year shows how bad the rest of the grid was in 2023. The car was also bad in Monaco last year. Yet last year he got an insane pole lap done. The RB19 wasn't a miracle car, the rest of the grid went backwards with their cars while Red Bull improved slightly year over year.
